The Portrait of Mum

I took my pencils from the box

To draw a picture. Of a fox?

Of two giraffes? The sky and sun?

No, I would better draw my mum!

I’ll draw her eyes, so blue and wise,

Her hair blonde which shines like gold,

Her tender hands and tired face

Which will protect me nights and days.

Pink pencil will be for her cheeks,

The red one for her mouth.

She wants a house at the sea,

So I’ll draw her a house.

I tried so hard, I tried my best

That broke all my pencils.

Now I can play and have a rest

‘Cause mum will like it anyway

She will forgive for everything,

She’ll kiss me and will hug,

She will pretend, will understand

Because she is my mum!
