Sun, Cloud, Stone. Macmillan English Explorers. Young Explorers 2
It is a tale, and a person who helped us to read it is Gill Munton. Thanks to him.
Sam should work, but he was tired and started dreaming. First, he wanted to be a sun, because it is stronger than the man. Then he wanted to be a cloud because it can cover the sun, then he wanted to be a block of stone because it is heavy. But at last he understood that to be the man is the best of all.
This book is about dreams. And we, boys of ten years, are great dreamers. So, this book is just for me.
I would like to be a bird. I would fly in the sky and look at the towns, forests, seas and people from there. I would sing a song:
I am a bird
Look at me
Look what I can do!
I can fly
I can sing
I can watch everything!
I would like to be a tiger, a beautiful wild animal with strong legs and sharp teeth.
I am a tiger
Look at me!
Look what I can do!
I can jump
I can run
I can have a lot of fun!
But in the end I will choose to be a boy of ten years because I can have friends, I can read books and I can love my mum. And I’m happy to be me.
Giants. Way Ahead Reader 3A
“Giants” is an Irish tale. Keith Gaines made this story easy to read. Thanks to him.
The story is about two giants. One of them – Finn is kind and hardworking, another is aggressive and lazy. But the main hero is Una, Finn’s wife. She is very clever.
Many, many years ago there lived a family of giants. They loved each other and helped the people. One day their friend brought them terrible news. An ugly and wicked giant wanted to throw them away from the house. Finn was frightened and did not know what to do. But his wife Una with the help of some tricks made this giant leave them alone.
This book shows us that if you think a little you can find a way out in every difficult situation. You should not give up and you should fight for you rights and for your family. And you should always be optimistic.
But did such fairy-tale characters as Giants really exist? I am sure they did. We, boys of ten years, like mysterious creatures. So, this book is just for me.
Fairground Adventure. Way Ahead Reader 3B
The authors who created this story are Nick Beare and Jeanette Greenwell. Thanks to them.
This is a story about three friends. They met a man who was a pickpocket. He stole a woman’s purse and he also took the kids’ ball. He tried to run away. While chasing the man the friends had to go on scary rides such as the Ghost Train or the roller coaster.
At last with the help of the policeman the children stopped the thief.
Richard, Jack and Gail have different characters. Richard is cautious. He does not want to risk. Sometimes he is not kind to his sister Gail. Jack is decisive and Gail is courageous.
This book teaches us to be brave and to be a team and never let your friends down. It describes interesting adventures which happened in the fairground.
And we, boys of ten years, are very adventurous and like funfairs too. So, this book is just for me.
All these books are really great! You can meet different heroes in them – kind and wicked, clever and silly – like in real life.
Enjoy reading Macmillan books!
