Stating the problem Teenagers do not read books nowadays. They prefer media technologies to reading. Reading is the most comfortable way to learn something new. Reading develops your speech possibilities and writing skills. Reading develops not only your mind but your soul. So, why do we become unreadable generation?

Genres of books we love: Fantasy Detective Classical and poems Historical books Utopias and dystopias

Fantasy Fantasy is one of the most popular genres in the world. Many bestsellers were written in this genre. For example: “Harry Potter”, “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “Eragon” and others.

Detective That genre will be popular for long years. But we do not think that detective stories, written by authors like Darya Dontsova will get the fame of dame Agatha Christie’s or sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s books.

Classical and Poems These genres are may not be interesting for most of teenagers, but we think, that these are very important. That genre learns us to feel, to love and to live.

Historical books These books help us to understand the origin of our modern world and its evolution. They tell us about important dates and people in our history.

Utopias and dystopias These books tell us about unreal communities or societies. Examples of such societies are showed in books such as “The Time Machine”, “The Hunger Games”, “Inhabited Island” and “Nineteen Eighty-Four”.

Our school newspaper: Our school has a newspaper called “Alma Mater” and we are its editors. It is an interesting work. We are proud of being a part of it.

Our conclusion: All in all, we think that teenagers should: -read more classical books; -reduce using computers and watching TV; -read books of different genres; -take part in some contests connected with reading;
