“A LETTER TO A COSMONAUT”

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am one of those teenagers who appreciate cosmonauts’ contribution to science and exploration of space. It will be the 50th anniversary of the first flight of a man into space, and it was Yuri Gagarin who was the pioneer.

Many of a boy dream of becoming cosmonauts. However, growing up, they forget this dream, replacing it with better paid and less risky jobs. But those who remained devoted to their dream and carried it on through years are truly worth to be respected and admired. People of this honorable profession should be extremely responsible, for a cosmonaut, or, in other words, astronaut is a person performing tests and operation of space equipment in space flights.

Space pioneer names are familiar to everyone since childhood and all mothers try to cultivate in their children qualities of a person of this profession that is courage, generosity, dignity, kindness and love for homeland. After all, making space discoveries astronauts not only glorify themselves but their country as well.

Our future depends in many ways on the people of this profession. Thanks to the modern development of computer technology now exists the possibility of such space operations and tasks that were not available a couple of decades ago.

With the development of technology the human desire to comprehend the boundless world has evolved. In fact, almost all the corners of the globe have been studied by now. Anyway space with its mysteries and boundless possibilities is a distant but attainable goal to humans.

Interplanetary travel… What could be more interesting and more dangerous? There are numerous legends (some of them are confirmed by scientists) according to which the alien life exists.

A great number of children dream of a day when some friendly intellectual creatures, our galaxy neighbours from other planets will be able to visit the Earth and people from the Earth also will fly to other galaxies.

Actually, I believe that some day the dream about interplanetary flights will come true. The profession of an astronaut allows embodying this dream into reality.  

Cosmonauts and astronauts can be envied because this profession is one of the most unusual and challenging. But at the same time it is dangerous and exhausting.

In conclusion I wish I could express my admiration and gratitude to the people of this profession, because due to their human qualities, physical strength and training man-kind is able to look far ahead into the unknown, mysterious and beautiful future.

And in the end I would like to wish all our space heroes every success and good luck.
