How I use AI in studying

Masha: Hi, Deni! We have a new home assignment for our media studies class— a project on How I use AI in studying. Do you want to do it together?

Deni: Sure! Artificial intelligence has recently become part and parcel of our every day life. This is a controversial issue so we need to look at  it carefully.

Masha: Look! I’ve found an interesting survey about how Russian school students use AI.

Deni: Let’s look at the bar chart more closely. We can see that the majority of students (that is 64%) believe that using AI for studying is not helpful and prefer traditional methods. As for me, I am within these 64 %, as I almost never use AI for studying.

Masha: Nevertheless, one third of the respondents find AI a helpful writing tool. Understanding difficult tasks and creating articles and essays  make up almost the same percentage (10 and 9 % respectively).

Deni: The number of students using AI for doing homework is 4  % bigger than the above mentioned numbers (14%). But look, Masha there are 3% of those who use AI for cheating in tests!! And I know some people who do that!

Masha: Yes, that’s a problem! How to solve it?

Deni: Luckily, gadgets are not allowed at the exams. Another solution may be limiting the Internet access during tests.

Masha: That’s good. As for me AI is a great sourse of ideas for my essays. Last year I was doing a project for my English literature class and my teacher let us use AI for some ideas and names.

Deni: Oh, really! That’s interesting!  

Masha: And what about you, Deni? I know that your don’t use AI for studying.

Deni: Well, yes. As far as I’m concerned, AI is like my friend who can give me a hand when I’m bored. When I have nothing to do, I play chess or computer games with it, and don’t feel loneliness.

Masha: To sum up these findings I’d say that there are more benefits to using AI than there are downsides.

Deni: And what about you? What is your attitude to AI? We need more opinions for our project!
