Рассказ на английском языке

Once upon a time there lived a girl, called Olivia. Her mother was advanced in years, her father was the owner of the public house, but he was in debts. Olivia didn’t have a lot of friends as she preferred to be alone.

 One day her classmates were going to have a party. Olivia had never been to parties, but dreamt of going there. She begged her parents to let her go, but they refused. She was so disappointed and she made up her mind to break her promise and went to the party.

The party was really cool and all her classmates enjoyed it very much. But Olivia was not at ease she was afraid that her parents would learn about her low behaviour. Suddenly she was accidentally wounded, she had cut her arm with knife and fainted. When she opened the eyes, she saw the boy, who was dressing her wound. He was so handsome and Olivia couldn’t take her eyes off him. He introduced himself as Mark, Olivia managed to stand up. They spent the evening together and Olivia was happy.

When she came home, she understood that Mark had committed a crime, he had picked her pockets. She had not a single coin on her. The next day she started to ask her friends about Mark, but they told her that they knew him by some other name. They told her that they called him Dodger. They also said that Dodger kept company with two boys, one of them was tall, the latter was very short.

 One day when Olivia was walking near the house they had had a party, she suddenly saw Dodger. She immediately called the police. Her anxiety increased. Olivia wanted to have a word with him, that’s why she set foot in the house. But she didn’t have time for a conversation as the police came at a great speed. Dodger attempted to run away, but he was caught. The police officers made sure that Dodger was a pickpocket when they opened his bag and saw a lot of valuables: wallets, handkerchiefs and gold wedding rings. He was found guilty of stealing.
