Stephen King childhood Stephen King was born on September 21, 1947 in Scarborough, Maine, USA. The mother of the novelist Nellie Ruth King, nee Pillsbury (Nellie Ruth Pillsbury, 02/03/1913-12/18/1973) was the fourth of eight children. In the family of Mrs. King were simple rural farmers and builders.

Stephen King's childhood passed in moving, the family wandered not only from city to city, but also from state to state. Ruth and her sons visited one or the other of her sisters. Stevie has lived in Chicago, Illinois, Fort Wayne, Indiana (where his father's parents lived), Malden, Massachusetts (with Aunt Molly), West De Pere, Wisconsin, Stratford, Connecticut (with Aunt Lois).

Stephen grew up a sickly child, wore glasses from childhood. Frequent travel did not improve health. He suffered a severe ear infection, a visit to the otolaryngologist and piercing of the eardrum became the brightest memory of the writer's childhood: "My scream is still in my ears." In addition to the unbearable pain, 5-year-old Steve remembered the attitude of the doctor, who lied that "it wouldn't hurt."

The creative path of Stephen King To get rid of boredom during another illness, 6-year-old Stephen rewrites the text from the "clouds" of the comic book and finishes the sequel. Mom praised the little writer, but advised him to come up with something of his own. Stevie wrote 4 stories about a rabbit helping out children in trouble. His mom bought the stories for $0.25 each, so King made his first bucks writing.

Little Stevie loved to read comics, especially about "evil spirits" - the series "Tales from the Crypt", "Tomb of Horrors", "Madness", etc. When asked by journalists what attracted him to the topic of the supernatural, King could answer that his mother was fond of magazine "Destiny" about paranormal phenomena, flying saucers, etc. and read these stories to her son. And he could answer that somehow in the attic he discovered a repository of fantastic works, among which were books by Howard Lovecraft, and was fascinated by his work.

In the mid-60s, Stephen King entered the College of Education, graduating with a bachelor's degree. Stephen's reason for graduating was unrelated to his intellectual aspirations. He did so on the advice of his mother, who was very afraid that his son might be called up for military service. As a student, King had to work hard at the laundry, sometimes not finding enough time to sleep.

Studying in college brought Stephen King not only a profession, but also happiness in his personal life. He married Tabitha Spruce and they soon had two children. The young family had practically nothing to live on. The young father was still working in the laundry, Tabitha was on student loans. Occasionally, King's stories were published in magazines, but this was not enough. The situation improved a little when, in 1971, Stephen King got a job as an English teacher.

Surprisingly, for all his busyness, Stephen King always found time for creativity. For him, new stories were a distraction from everyday life, an opportunity to throw out emotions. He still considered his occupation a game, but everything changed when his wife found a draft of "Carrie" among the garbage. She insisted that the piece be finished, and a few months later King received a check for it for $400,000.

The author is a perfectionist. He has long worked out for himself a scheme for writing quality works. The main secret of success is constant work. At least 2000 words per day, and until the author could cope with this norm, the work did not stop. He also believes that one can become a good writer only by giving reading and writing 4-6 hours daily.

Popular books by Stephen King It is not so easy to find a fascinating book with a non-standard plot. Perhaps that is why many liked the work of Stephen King. After all, each of his literary works is a bewitching intricacies of mystical and real events, and reading such a work is difficult to interrupt until the end without feeling the final chords.

Young teacher Johnny's date with his girlfriend at an amusement park ends in a car accident and five years in a coma. The guy's father and girlfriend lose hope for his recovery. Only his religious mother is waiting for his son to come out of a coma. And Johnny came back to life, but now it’s hard to call it ordinary. A head injury received in childhood, reinforced by the consequences of an accident, awakens the gift of clairvoyance in the hero. The book is a real revelation about how a person can control fate, live and fight, based on superpowers. The "dead" zone is read in one breath, causes a storm of emotions and leaves a stunning impression.

Schoolchildren Mike, Beverly, Richie, Ben, Stan and Eddie were rallied into the Losers club by the constant bullying of classmate Henry and his friends. But the guys will have to resist not only school hooligans, but also a dark entity that has settled in the sewers of the city of Derry. The monster can change its appearance, kidnaps and kills children. After the death of Billy's younger brother, friends descend into the sewers, wanting to destroy the insidious monster. Children do not yet realize how cruel and long this fight will be. The recurrence of terrible events many years later brings old friends together again. In the book, King reveals the impact of childhood trauma on adulthood, the meaning of memory and the power of friendship.
