PART I. English language in today’s world

In today’s world ability to speak foreign languages is very important. Personally I think the most useful foreign language is English. English plays very important role in the modern world. About 25% of the world’s population speak English. More than 470 million people speak English. English is one of the working languages of the United States. English along with French and German is spoken at the summit meetings. Most vocabulary in the modern computer science is in English. 80% of all information in the world’s computer in English. 75% of all international business letters are written in English. Nearly 50% of the companies communicate with each other in English. The US and British companies produce thousands of films, video and TV programmes every year. They are shown all over the world with subtitles and dubbing. English is the language of pop and rock musicians. Most of world known singers sing their songs in English.

Personally, I think that to know foreign languages today is absolutely necessary for every educated man, for every good specialist. So let`s to learn foreign languages and discover with them many interesting things in our life!

PART II. Why study English?

Very often I hear the question: “Why study English?” Personally I think that the knowledge of English gives a lot of opportunities. First of all, English is the language of travelers. In any country I can meet a person, who speaks English. I can ask help, ask the way or make new friends. Secondly, English is the language of politics, musicians, pilots, international journalists, doctors, scientists, film stars, sportsmen, businessmen and etc. Other word, English is the language of international communication.

Moreover, I can sing songs in English, I can read books in English, I can watch films in English. Finally, if I will be able to speak English, I can get well-paid job in my future.
