My essay: St Valentine's Day

Why is it my favourite holiday?

The fourteenth of February is Valentine's Day. On this date, anyone can confess their feelings with the help of a valentine, remaining a secret admirer, or talk with a loved one face to face. People become a little happier on this holiday, because they are surrounded by sincere feelings. There is no place for lies and hypocrisy on this day. This holiday is another reason to remind your soul mates how much they are loved and not forgotten.

Love is something that surrounds us from childhood. It can be different: parental love, love for animals, etc.But this holiday is dedicated to a slightly different love, namely the manifestation of this feeling between a man and a woman. Gifts on this day are very diverse: flowers, sweets, soft toys, etc. It doesn’t matter what it will be, but the fact that it will be saturated with light and tender feelings is important. I believe that even if you do not have a soulmate, on this day, looking at the people around you, your soul becomes joyful and warm.

If we turn to history, then this holiday came to us from Western countries and it has a rather tragic and at the same time inspiring history. This holiday was named in honor of St. Valentine, since he was a priest and a part-time doctor. At that time, it was strictly forbidden for couples in love to marry and have children. And he married them in secret, for which he was executed. He died for love. And so people in honor of him called this holiday Valentine's Day - the holiday of love. I believe that only a true hero can sacrifice himself in order to push people to new discoveries and change old laws.

Celebrate Valentine's Day in our country began not so long ago. However, many celebrate it with pleasure, especially young people. I love this holiday very much and every year I prepare for it. After all, there is nothing more beautiful than expressing your feelings to your loved one.
