Good morning. My name is Zhukova Vasilisa ( 7 form, Zhirnovs school)

Friendship and supporting in works of English and Russian literature.

People can’t live without friendship and help. This is part of our life. We can’t survive without these feelings. People in all world have friends. Teenagers watch lot of films and read many books. And what books teach them to be true friends and help each other?

I like reading. My favourite book is "Harry Potter" by the English writer Joan Rowling. I have read all of it’s parts and watched all the films in English based on this book. I decided to compare  "Harry Potter"  with "Timur and his team"  by Arkady Gaidar. 

Hypothesis: both of these works teach friendship and supporting.

The aim of my project is to compare the novel of the English writer Joan Rowling "Harry Potter" with  "Timur and his team" by Arkady Gaidar

to determine which treats of characters are valuable and how these books influence  readers.

Research objectives:

1. know information about works, and their creators.

2. find similarities and differences in the plot and the relationships of main characters,

3. survey classmates;

4. present the results of my project;

Research methods: to collect information; systematization, comparison and analys. 

I compared the novel "Harry Potter"  and the story "Timur and his team". I find the some similarities:

1.Main  characters are true  friends. They care about each other and help. 

2. The main characters struggle with  evil and injustice.

3. The characters believe that there is truth and honor in the World. 

There are some differences:

1.The story "Timur and his team" was published in 1941, the first copies of the book appeared in Rostov-on-Don, Gaidar wrote about the real historical events of our country and the beginning of the second World War. The novel  "Harry Potter" was published in 1997. Rowling in her work creates a fantasy world, an adventure of a young wizard.

2. The main characters knew how to make wonders: Harry, using a magic caster  wand, but Timur and his friends help without magic to the solder's families.

The influence of the books:

1. "Harry Potter" is a favorite hero and idol of children. The Museum of Harry Potter was created in London, Harry is on T-shirts, mugs, bags.

2.  Thanks to Gaidar's work "Timur and his team", the Timur movement started in our country. Hundreds of girls and boys followed the example of Timur and his friends and helped people. 

The results of the survey showed that 39 teens out of 44 consider it is necessary to help people in difficult time, 42 out of 44 can sacrifice their comfort, time or even themselves to help others, they value reliability and loyality  in their friends most of all.

Conclusion: 

The main characters of Gaidar's story and Rowling's novel teach us to value friendship and suppoting. This is what is valued in  friends of modern teenagers. 

This proves a positive impact of the these book on young readers. I advise everyone to read them, listen to my project and discuss it with classmates.
