Is there a difference between EMO kids and E-girls?

Recently I became interested in youth subcultures. After learning a little more about them, I was interested in cultures such as EMOkids and E-girls, and I decided to conduct a study to find out if E-girls are a separate subculture or if they are developed from the distant 2007 EMOkids.

I planned to compare clothes, music, ideals of life to understand what their similarities and differences are.

The theme of the project is "Is there a difference between EMO KIDS and E-girls?"

The  language  of the project is English.

The aim of the project is to find out if there is a difference between E-girls and EMO kids.

Tasks to achieve this goal:

1. Find information about both subcultures.

2. Study the information.

3. Identify differences and similarities.

4. Make comparisons and draw conclusions.

CHAPTER 1.

I recently became interested in the topic of various subcultures. There are many types of subcultures among people of different ages, ranging. To begin with, I will explain what a subculture is. This is a group of people with certain values, style, behavior that differ from the generally accepted ones. Most often, the subculture manifests itself among youth, because at this age people most of all want to express their personality, their feelings and emotions. The subculture helps them in this.

In Russia, there are subcultures such as: HIPSTERS, VANILLA, GAMERS, FREAKIES, GOTA, EMO. In the USA, there are also the most widespread subcultures, for example: PUNK 70s, GRANGE 90s, EMOs, HIPPIES, ROCKERS, etc. Russia and the United States (and not only) have many of the same cultures, but I was most interested in EMO culture. I compared the EMO culture in Russia and the USA and entered the results into a table.

I also carried out a survey among forty-four schoolchildren of our school.  The result of the survey shows that only 24 children know the EMO subculture.

Based on the table, we can conclude that there are no differences between EMOs in Russia and the United States. But in our time, a new subculture of E-teenagers has appeared, which some consider to be reborn in a new form of EMO-children. Is it really so?

CHAPTER 2.

   Some people believe that the culture of E-girls resembles Emo in the way the two cultures have similar dressing characteristics, for example, short skirts, brightly drawn eyes and hair of unnatural shades. But there are also many differences, and the main one is the difference from the Emo subculture spread in 2007 from E-girls. If Emo's bright style is an expression of their feelings and character, then generation Z (E-girls) dress up for the sake of creating content on social networks and attracting more subscribers.

     As far as I know, emo emerged because a new style of music emerged. The new style arose thanks to experiments with the HARDKOR style, the group's "Rites of Spring" in 1984. Such music created strong  feelings, therefore it was named EMOCOR, and later EMO. Ideals of life Emo is  the expression of  emotions and wish to be yourself. The emo image is usually composed of a black ragged hairstyle usually covering one eye and many bright strands, mostly in hot pink. Clothes are skinny black jeans (often with holes), two belts, a T-shirt with a child's drawing or the name of a favorite group, as well as a lot of badges, bracelets, sneakers, bright laces on sneakers, hairpins.

   While E-girls / E-boys were born in the INTERNET ERA. The name of the new subculture comes from "Electronic girls or boys". It is not difficult to guess that the "natural environment" of E-girls is  a virtual reality or social networks such as Twich, Instagram, Discord, Tik Tok. Unlike Emo, the ideals in the life of such youth are the creation of an online personality, for the most part existing only in networks, as well as interest in video games, memes and anime. The main features in the image are hair dyed in bright colors, often gathered in a careless ponytail or bun, and bright makeup with arrows and blush, sweaters, plaid shirts, tight tops, pants, shorts, high-waisted caged skirts, a large number of chains and a wide belt with two rows of metal rivets.

CHAPTER 3.

   Now after analyzing the two subcultures, we can conclude that E girls have nothing to do with the EMO subculture. Some people mistakenly considered E-girls as returning from 2007 EMO kids, because of similar criteria in clothing.

While working on the project, I learned a lot about youth subcultures. I have developed my skills in researching and searching for information on the internet. I mastered my oral and written speech in English.

I will continue to study information about other subcultures to learn a little more about them.
