ACT ONE. THE PREPARATORY PART.
Act one and only. Here and everywhere – a courtroom with all of the above persons.
Pause
The case is filed against Angela Lynn and Annie Crew for intentionally causing bodily harm to Mary Jane.
Judge: Are the defendants in this case Angela Lynn and any team here?
Suspects: (stand up) here .
Judge: Is the lawyer here?
Lawyer: Yes. Jess von Dietrich.
Judge: Is the prosecutor here?
Prosecutor: Here. Tom Johnson.
Judge: Is the victim of this crime, Mary Jane, here? The victim: Yes.

ACT TWO. BASIC. COURT PROCEEDINGS.
Act 1.
Prosecutor: On November, 17 between 11 and 12 o'clock in the afternoon, Angela Lynn and her accomplice Annie Crewe visited Mary Jane. As she said at the beginning, he abused her, and then stabbed her in the stomach. Suspects, do you admit your guilt?
Suspects: No, of course not.
Judge: Victim, you have the floor.
Victim: Thanks. On November, 17, late in the evening at 11 pm, I was in my room and listened to music, as usually. My neighbour Angela called and asked me to turn down the volume. She was rude, but I politely said that I would do it. Thirty minutes later, she broke into my apartment with a knife in her hand and almost killed me.
The suspect: I did not do it! She is lying!
Judge: (bangs the hammer) Are you trying to say that you did not break into Mary Jane's apartment?
Suspect: (calm down) No, I exploded. My neighbour listens to terrible music every day. All the neighbors hate her for it. I can take it during the day, but she still does not turn it off, it is 4 o'clock in the morning! On the 17th, I called her, and she turned down the sound a little. It was after 11 pm, it violates the law.
Judge: What were you doing at that time?
Annie: We were preparing a literary project. When it was 11 o'clock, Angela called Mary, and then we knocked on her door and said everything we thought. We started fighting and went to her house. She resisted Angela pushed her down. She fell down. Then we went.
Prosecutor: May I say, Your Honor? On November 17, my client was taken to the hospital with stab wounds in the stomach. I can provide a reference.
(Passes it through the bailiff.
Angela: (as if to the side) Bitch …
The judge knocks with a hammer
Act 2.
Lawyer: We have a witness.
Bailiff: Defense witness, come in.
Judge: Introduce yourself to the court.
Annie: I'm Annie Crewe, born in 1993, a student. Mary only tells lies! It was exactly as Angela had said. I can only add that Mary said “I'll get my revenge” when we left.
Prosecutor: It doesn't mean anything. We also have a witness.
Act 3.
Bailiff: Witness for the prosecution, come in.
Judge: Introduce yourself to the court.
Diana: I am Diana Collins, born in 1994, and a student. I was in the apartment red-handed. I was in the next room, and the girls couldn't see me. But I saw Mary fall. After that, Angela grabbed a nail clipper and poked her in the stomach.
Lawyer: Stop it. The victim said that the blow was inflicted with a knife
Diana: Oh, yes, with a knife… I just said I couldn't see them.
Lawyer: All right…
Judge: Anything else? (Diana shakes her head negatively) Then invites another witness.
Secretary: Vladimir Stein is invited.
Act 4.
Bailiff: Defense witness, come in
Vova: I have lived with Mrs. Lynn and Mrs. Jane for so long. They often fight, and Mary listens to loud music every night.
Judge: Do you know what happened on November, 17?
Vova: At that moment I was entering my apartment . There were loud screams, and then a pump.
Prosecutor: You want to say that you didn't see what happened, but you confirm that there was a pump there? Do you also confirm that the suspect and the victim often swear?
Vova: Yes. I heard a bang because they forgot to close the door.
Judge: Thank you. Take your seat.
Pause
Act 5.
Lawyer: I would like to ask a few questions to the victims. Please tell me, how long have you been living next to Angela? Do you get along well with her?
Victim: I've been living there for 2 years now. We arrived there almost at the same time, but we never communicated.
Angela: (aside) Of course, you always come to ask any sold
Mary: ...Yes, I often listen to music, but no one had any complaints.
Angela: (laughs) Oh, yes. Vova confirmed that this annoyed everyone.
Judge: Defendant, you have your first warning.
Mary: (throws a sidelong glance)...I have never quarreled with anyone at all. I am an adequate person. In addition, this one... the maniac (emphasizes the word) almost killed me.
Angela: What the hell are you saying? It is adequate …
Judge: the defendant, calm down, otherwise you will be taken out of the courtroom.
Angela: That's all... (Politely)
Mary: By the way, she always invites different people. This one almost lives with her. Moreover, they make noise, run, jump and smoke on the porch
Angela: I can't understand… Are you angry because you're an extra here?
": This was the last notification!
Angela: (gets up) I usually throw parties, but we never make noise after 11 pm.
Mary: Don't lie!
Judge: (knocks with a hammer) Prosecutor, do you have any comments on this
Prosecutor: Thank you. Your Honor, you look great today. I have a few questions for the defendants.
(debate between a lawyer and a prosecutor)
We have a witness.
Act 6.
Bailiff: witness for the prosecution, come in
Doctor: I am James Nichols, born in 1995, a doctor.
Prosecutor: Were you on duty in the emergency department when the victim came to you?
Doctor: Yes, I was.
Prosecutor: Is it true that her injuries were inflicted with a stabbing object?
Doctor: Yes. She came in with a knife wound in the stomach.
Prosecutor: Did you send her for surgery?
Doctor: Yes. She's been in the hospital for a week now.
Annie: How long have you known the victims?
Doctor: From school
Everyone looks at him in amazement
Doctor: I mean, she came to the hospital a lot …
Prosecutor: So the first time she approached you were at school?
Doctor: (confused) Yes.
Prosecutor: everything is clear. I would like to invite Witness Collins again.
Act 7.
Secretary: A witness in the case of Citizen Collins is invited.
Bailiff: Prosecution witness, enter
Prosecutor: Please tell us what you were doing in Mary's apartment on November, 17
Diana: I was just there. We are good friends.
Prosecutor: Did you know about the differences between Angela and Mary?
Diana: No, I was shocked.
Prosecutor: You called an ambulance, didn't you?
Diana: Yes .
Prosecutor: I have no further questions.
Lawyer: I have one. Why weren't the police at the crime scene? Why did they come only the next day?
Diana: I was confused and forgot to call.
Prosecutor: The police came in the morning. We have photos from the crime scene with bloodstains in the hallway.
The bailiff passes the pictures
Lawyer: Did you drink on the 17th?
Diana: No…
Lawyer: Why? Do you never drink alcohol?
Diana: No, sometimes I can have a drink, but not that night.
Lawyer: Were you with Mary all day?
Diana: No, I was preparing for a concert.
Lawyer: (with interest) which one is it?
Diana: I had a performance on the 18th. I needed to get a good night's sleep
Lawyer: And how was it?
Diana: (with enthusiasm) Perfect!
Lawyer: But how could you get enough sleep if you were in Mary's apartment until 12 o'clock in the afternoon, and then waited for the appearance?
Diana: (her face changes dramatically) That's why I didn't get enough sleep…
Prosecutor: The lawyer changes the subject again.
Judge: The protest is accepted.
ACT THREE. THE CLIMAX.
Act 1.
Judge: All the witnesses have been heard. The last word is given to the victim and the defendants. Then the judge will make a decision.
Prosecutor: We all know that the law protects a person’s life. "Dura lex sed lex" (latin, the law is harsh, but it is the law). According to the testimony of witnesses and the victim, the actions of Angela Linin and Anny Crewe caused serious physical, moral and material damage to my client. They deserve a sentence of five years in prison for Angela Linin and two years for Anny Crewe. This is a necessary measure to prevent their further unauthorized actions.
Mary: (sobbing ) now I have to pay for my expensive treatment, repair the hallway. I don't have a job, I'm just studying. To be honest, I'm afraid to live next to these criminals. Please do not make a mistake when making a decision.
Judge: Thank you. Defense, do you have something to say?
Lawyer: I believe that this is not enough for sentencing. We must continue our investigation.
Angela: (interrupts) I've already said everything. If I wanted to kill her, I would have done it.
Pause. The prosecutor suddenly has an idea.
Lawyer: Your Honor . Let me ask the defendant one more question.
Judge: (wearily) Well, please.
Lawyer: Mary said that you moved into the house at the same time. Was it a coincidence?
Angela: I think not. We studied together. This house is located near the university, and it is cheap to rent.
Lawyer: Oh, you studied together… Well, tell us, did you have any disagreements at the university?
Angela: At least, no. She just can't work in a group. Annie and I told her about it. Once, during a project, we disrupted her performance because she wanted to do everything herself. We got tired of being like idiots and just stopped it.
Lawyer: What happened next?
Angela: (laughing ) Then it dawned on her.
Mary: Do you think this is funny?!
Lawyer: Thank you. And now I would like to ask a few questions to Mary.
Secretary: Mary Jane is invited as a witness
Lawyer: Is it true that you have never allowed the accused to participate in projects?
Mary: No. I just want everything to be great.
Lawyer: What did you get in the end?
Mary: I used to have five, and they have two, as they deserve.
Lawyer: How did you behave when Mrs. Lynn and Mrs. Crewe disrupted your project?
Mary: I don't remember... (fidgeting nervously with her jacket ) , I was angry , but then it dawned on me, and I forgot .
Lawyer: Have you read the Bible?
Mary: No…
Lawyer: How old are you?
Mary: 23…
Lawyer: Do you really hate Marina?
Pause
Prosecutor: What are you talking about? Judge, I think this is not for the topic. I object.
Judge: The protest is accepted. Do you have any other questions?
Lawyer: No, now everything is clear to me. Let me explain. I'm sure Mary Jane is lying. Diana was not in the apartment when the crime was committed. She said that she was preparing for a concert, so she couldn't be in two places at the same time. There were no prints of Angela or Annie back then, but they weren't wearing gloves. Moreover, Mary had a motive, she wanted revenge. She couldn't forgive Annie and Angela for the insight. She chose the right moment for this. She made an appointment with Diana and the doctor. She didn't turn off the music and didn't wait. And now it plays a tragic role for all of us.
The judge looks directly at the prosecutor. Katya's eyes widened. Marina breaks into a happy smile, the lawyer sits with his mouth open.
Judge: Finally, you understand. I realized this even in the second act.
(The lawyer sits, shyly averting his eyes.)
Mary Jane, you have the floor.
Mary: (admits or does not admit guilt, it does not matter . )
Judge: So there is no point in continuing the discussion. These two need to be released. (Waving his hand in the direction of the suspects), sentence this one to a probation period of one to two years. Thank you for everything, you can go.
Secretary: Please stand up.
The bailiff releases Angela Linin. And he approaches Katya.
Bailiff: Come with me for further consideration of the case. Takes you away.
THE END.
