Location Yaroslavl region is located on a flat territory, with not pronounced hills.

Climate The climate is moderately continental, with an average temperature of -10 C in January and +18 C in July. Precipitation falls up to 600 mm per year, with a maximum in summer.

Minerals The region is not rich in minerals. Mainly chalk, sand, clay and peat are extracted which along with wood is attractive for industry. There are mineral water sources.

flora In total, there are more than 1000 species of various plants in the region, a quarter of which are listed in the Red book. The region is rich in medicinal herbs and berries — raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, rose hips and currants.

fauna The total number of vertebrates exceeds 300 different species. The most numerous are birds, among which you can still find capercaillie , grouse and many other.In the waters of rivers and lakes there are sterlet , bream, roach and walleye. Otters, muskrats, and beavers are found along the coast. Almost uniformly, the territory of the Yaroslavl region is populated by wolves, foxes, hares and wild boars. It is noteworthy that hunting for wolves is open all year round, in order to reduce the population of these predators. There are fewer populations of bears, lynx, and moose. Among fur-bearing animals there are stoats, minks, raccoons, ferrets and of course squirrels.
