william Shakespeare William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and actor. He was born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. His father, John Shakespeare, was a successful artisan. William was the third child in the family. In 1582, when Shakespeare was 18 years old, he married a woman named Anne Hathaway and the couple had three children. A few years after his marriage, Shakespeare moved to London where he worked as both a playwright and an actor. In 1593, he joined "The Lord Chamberlain's Men", on of England's most famous acting and writing, until 1599. It was in this year that the theatre where the group performed burnt down. He continued to act in another theatre called "The Globe" until 1613, when he chose to retire. Shakespeare went on writing plays up until his death in 1616.

william Shakespeare (1564-1616) Shakespeare wrote at least 38 plays and over 150 short and long poems, many of which are considered to be the finest ever written in English. His works have been translated into every major living language and they continue to be performed around the world. . Among his works there are such masterpieces of the world literature as "Romeo and Juliet", "A dream in a summer night", "Othello", "King Lear", "Hamlet" and many others. William Shakespeare's influence extends from theatre and literature to present-day movies, Western philosophy, and the English language itself.

The Globe Theatre is a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men, on land owned by Thomas Brend. It could seat 3000 people and 1000 standing in the Yard. The audience were a mixture of social classes, as Shakespeare tried to make his plays enjoyable for everyone, with the poorer people standing. The theatre was destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613. A second Globe Theatre was built on the same site by June 1614 and closed in 1642. A modern reconstruction of the Globe, named "Shakespeare's Globe", opened in 1997.

The success of the theat re largely depended on its repertoire, which was created by Shakespeare, who had been involved in literary activities for several years. Shakespeare's early experiments were alterations and "renewal" of already existing plots, he later turned to creating his own works.
