the Urgency of this theme . I’m sure that this theme is rather actual because having information about the first inventions we can follow the development of some gadgets and machines. We can see an amazing and surprising difference of the great technological progress.

Introduction The science of Great Britain in XIX century was leading in the world. Most of all British scientists paid attention to natural and technical science. More than 70 British scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize. A number of great inventions were made that time: telephone, Steam Locomotive, bicycle and photography. They have played a very important role in the development of Great Britain. There are a lot of inventors from different countries which made our life easier and better. Today, I would like to tell you about English inventors and inventions.

Steam Locomotive - The role of locomotive in the history of Great Britain is great. A lot of railway transport has appeared in Britain. They made the main volume of traffic. They developed British economy. It was invented by Richard Trevithick, a British inventor in 1804 in South Wales to carrying cargo. 2. Introduction
The science of Great Britain in XIX century was leading in the world. Most of all British scientists paid attention to natural and technical science. More than 70 British scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize. A number of great inventions were made that time: telephone, Steam Locomotive, bicycle
and photography.
They have played a very important role in the development of Great Britain.
There are a lot of inventors from different countries which made our life
easier and better. Today, I would like to tell you about English inventors
and inventions.
3. Inventions and inventors
(Influence of inventions on modern life)
A). Steam Locomotive
The role of locomotive in the history of Great Britain is great. Thanks to this invention a lot of railway transport has appeared in Britain. They made the main volume of traffic. They developed British economy.
The first steam locomotive was invented by Richard Trevithick. Trevithick’s steam locomotive was built in 1804 in Pen-y-Darren in South Wales to carrying cargo. In one of the earliest public demonstrations, the locomotive successfully carried 10 tons of iron, in 4 hours and 5 minutes. Trevithick continued to work with steam locomotives for many years until his death in April 1833. The first steam locomotive we can see in Maritime Museum, later it moved to the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea.
Since that time steam locomotive has changed a lot. They are more powerful and beautiful. They are fast and comfortable. People can travel different countries and cities.
B). Telephone
In the XIX century new cities and towns appeared in Great Britain. That is why there was a need for communicating in distance, so after the telegraph in 1876 the phone has been created. It was invented by British inventor Alexander Graham Bell who studied in the University of London.
His early experiments with sound began when he saw a “speaking” automaton designed by Baron Wolfgang. Fascinated by the machine, Bell made a copy of a book written in German by Baron Wolfgang and built a similar automaton with his Brother. Many years later, Bell became interested in technology to transmit sound. Leaving his job at the university, he made the decision to make his personal research on the subject. In 1875, Bell created an acoustic telegraph.
I think it was a very great invention. The phones have changed a lot during the times. They give people the opportunity to communicate even if they are far from each other. Now they have technologically advanced phones with a lot of functions. Nowadays almost everyone has a phone and can make a call anytime and place.
C). Bicycle
The first bicycle with the huge front wheel was invented by English inventor John Camp Starly in 1818. Later in 1884 he made a new bicycle which was called Rover – «Скиталец». It looked like a modern bicycle. British used bicycles in many spheres.
