Borisoglebsk is a city in the Voronezh region, founded by the decree of Emperor Peter I in 1698. In the beginning there was a fortress that protected the territory from enemy raids. At the beginning of XVIII there was built a Church in honor of Saints Gleb and Boris, hence the name of the city – Borisoglebsk. It acquired the status of the city in 1799. The city is the birthplace of famous people of Russia, such as actor Nikolai Rybnikov, artist Peter Sholokhov, famous writer Victor Kin, pop artist Viktor Ilchenko.

Drama theatre named after Chernyshevsky It is located in the Central square of the city. The background of the theater is of great interest. In the early twentieth century, a merchant living in Borisoglebsk, conceived the construction of a place for entertainment events — the People's house.In 1915, the people's house was inaugurated. Art gallery named after Sholokhov Peter Ivanovich Sholokhov is a famous Russian artist who lived in Borisoglebsk for a long time. His name was given to the art gallery, which was opened in 2001. In the gallery exhibited works by the following artists: A. P. Ryabushkin, N. M.Chernyshev, A. V. Kuprin, I. I. Mashkov, Yury I. Rogozin, P. I. Sholokhov, and others.
