My grand grandfather Vasily Ivanovich was born in 1922 in Poltava. In 1941 he studied in the military academy and came to front from the first days of the war. He served in Signal Corps. He was injured several times and once met my grand grandmother in the hospital, where she was a nurse. He passed the war till the end and he met the victory in Germany. After the war he stayed in the army in Germany and returned to Poltava in 1950 th . My grand grandfather Vasily Ivanovich Morgun .

My grand grandfather Gennady Vasilyevich live in Belorussia. He was 13 when the war began. He and his family entered to the partisan group. In 1943, when German Army fall back, they were captured. He starved and suffered in concentration camps till the end of the war. He was released by American soldiers in 1945 near Munich. The war leaved a great impress on his live and made him stronger and more purposeful. My grand grandfather Gennady Vasilyevich Kozhan .

My great – grandfather KORNEEV SERGEY PETROVICN . He entered the flight – school when he was 18 . He has dreamed about the sky since his childhood . Sergey was called to serve as a fighter pilot . He made may sorties and damaged many enemy aircrafts.

My great – grandfather had reached Berlin in 1945 . He was awarded orders and medals : order of Lenin , order of the Red Banner , order of the Patriotic War , Medal of Military Merit , Medal for the liberation of Prague , Medal for the Defense of Moscow.

He stayed to serve in the army after the war . He liked to tell us about his brave friends . But he disliked to remember about cruelty and horrors of the war . We keep his medals , orders and photos at home .

The Great Patriotic war 1941-1945 is the war of the Soviet Union against the Nazi Germany and its allies (Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Finland, Croatia). The name of the "Great Patriotic war" was used in the USSR after Stalin's radio addresses to the nation on the 3d of July 1941. Handling the epithet "the great" and "domestic" are used separately.

I’d like to tell you about my great-grandpa - Gerasimov Grigory Ivanovich , an employee of the aviation industry since the beginning of the war. He was assigned to the city of Kazan to the aviation plant where people collected the aircraft, working 18-20 hours a day. He told us: “ We slept in the shop, on mattresses and our clothing, covered with tarpaulin only 4-6 hours, and then worked at the Aircraft . The completed military planes were sent to the Kazan airport and then they immediately flew to the front.

My other great- grandpa - Sevostyanov Aleksei Semenovich , an employee of the railway service, was the head of the Supervisory Department. At the end of the war he was assigned to the city of Lviv , where the situation was very alarming on those days, as benderovsky bandits were hiding in the local forests and Soviet army had to fight with them . Alexey Semenovich and his team were not on the military front, but each of them performs his labor service.

My great-grand mother Anna Yakovlevna was 11 when the Second World War began. She worked in the rear: took care of the household, looked after domestic animals, garnered the crop. Her father Yakov perished near Leningrad in 1942. Some of her relatives came back with severe wounds and passed away shortly after it.

My another great-grand mother Nadezhda Romanovna worked in factory where she made jackets for soldiers. She also grew plants.

This story is about my great-grandfather. His name was Goryachev Victor Fedorovich . He was born in Moscow on the 14th of November in 1918. Victor wanted to be a pilot . That’s why he started to study at an aviation college. After that he went to Saransk to work as a pilot-instructor.

At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War Goryachev trained young avianion cadets to fly and fight by IL-2 . IL-2 was the main attack plane during the War. Attack planes executed air raids to enemy’s aerodroms, trains and automobile columns. Victor Goryachev arrived to the front in 1943. He was a vice-commander of an air squadron and a commander of IL-2.

Victor Goryachev took part in fights on the North Caucasus, Kuban, Crimea and Belarus. He executed 130 air raids, he won 7 air fights. He had many fight rewards.

The main reward of Goryachev was the name « Hero of the Soviet Union » . He received it after death. Victor Goryachev died near town Lomzha in Poland on the 24th of October in 1944. His plane was damaged and fell with its commander. Goryachev’s mother, wife and daughter lived in Udelnaya. Now the main street and the school of Udelnaya are named by Goryachev.

In 1941 Germany started the war that lasted for 4 years. Russian people heroically fought for independence and freedom. The Great Patriotic War became a truly national war. The Victory Day is one of the most important holidays in our country. It is celebrated on the 9 th of May. Many years have passed but we remember our veterans whose heroism saved our Motherland from the fascism . We will always be thankful to them for peace in the world.

I’m sure that all families have got their heroes. My great-grandparents participated in the Great Patriotic War, too. Logachev Petr F edorovich (07.07.1920 - 31.08.1999) He was my grandfather’s father. As a soldier he fought in the war with Finland in 1939. My great-grandfather was awarded with the medal “FOR THE DEFENCE OF LENINGRAD”. He was a commander of the artillery section. Then as a officer he defended Leningrad from 1941 to 1944.

Radin Evgeniy Pavlovich (19.01.1923 – 05.04.2011) My great-grandfather was awarded with the order “THE RED STAR” and the medal “FOR THE CAPTURE OF KONIGSBERG”. He was my grandmother’s father. At the age of 19 he left the University and went to the war . My great-grandfather was an officer of the Belorussian Front. He participated in the capture on Konigsberg and in the meeting with the allies on the Elba. He finished the war in Germany.

Radina Lidiya Alekseevna Thanks to my great-grandmother I know about the War a lot. She tells me stories, reads my great-grandfather’s letters and poems, shows his photos. We call our granny “Our Angel”. My grandmother’s mother was born in 1928 in Kolomna. She was a girl when the war started. My granny remembers starvation and bombing. She didn’t go to fight but she worked in the rear area. After the war she became a doctor. Now she is 87 and she still works at school and treats pupils.
