It is celebrated on October 31, on the eve of All Saints Day. Halloween is traditionally celebrated in English-speaking countries, although it is not an official day off. Since the end of the XX century, during the process of globalization, fashion for the attributes of Halloween has also arisen in most non-English-speaking countries of Europe and the CIS. Halloween is informally noted in some other countries that have close cultural ties with the United States or Great Britain, for example, in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, and in a number of island countries in Oceania.

Lamp of Jack The main symbol of the holiday is the so-called Jacket Lamp. He represents a pumpkin on which an ominously grinning face is carved; inside the pumpkin is placed a lit candle. For the first time, "Jack's fixtures" appeared in the UK, but originally used for their manufacture was a sweatshirt or turnip. It was believed that such a fruit, left on All Saints' Day near the house, would drive away evil spirits from him. When the tradition of celebrating Halloween spread to the USA, the lamps began to be made from pumpkins, more affordable and cheap

Costumes For the first time wearing masquerade costumes for Halloween was recorded in 1895 in Scotland, when children in masks went to their homes and received sweets, cakes, fruits and money. The main theme of the costumes for Halloween is different evil spirits or supernatural characters, however, costumes on absolutely arbitrary subjects are also popular, although the main motive continues to be the most common. So, in the 2000s among the costumes for Halloween it was possible to meet not only the costumes of vampires, werewolves or witches, but also fairies, queens, figures of pop culture and even role suits of sexual themes

Halloween for Russia For Russia, Halloween is an exotic and controversial holiday. According to sociological polls of the Levada Center, four out of five Russians surveyed know about the holiday, but only one in 20 respondents plans to celebrate it. The situation is gradually changing, there are shops selling costumes for Halloween, and its celebration is included in the schedule of shopping centers and nightclubs. The Russian Orthodox Church negatively regards the holiday. The head of the communication service of the Russian Orthodox Church, Georgy Zavershinsky , calls the festival a "carnival of evil" and a "religious festival incompatible with Russian culture".
