Soft toy’s history

The teddy bear is a soft toy in the form of a bear. It appeared in the early years of the 20th century. Teddy bears are a the most popular gifts for children and are often given to adults to signify love, congratulations, or sympathy.

Police, fire and emergency officials found that giving a teddy bear to a child during a crisis calmed them. So there has been created the Teddy Bear programme to distribute teddy bears to police, fire, and emergency officials throughout the United States, for their use in providing teddy bears to children in emergencies.

It is well known that the teddy bear is named for President Theodore Roosevelt. Less well known are the inventors of the teddy bear, Rose and Morris Michtom, two Russian Jewish immigrants who lived in Brooklyn..

Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States of America. Roosevelt was 42 years old when he became President of the United States in 1901. He was the youngest president ever.

The story begins in 1902. he states of Mississippi and Louisiana disagreed over the location of their common boundary, which bisected some of the least well-developed land in the United States. The governors of both states invited President Roosevelt to arbitrate the dispute. Roosevelt refused to kill a wounded black bear on a hunting trip in 1902.

After that the cartoonist Clifford K. Berryman illustrated the president with a bear. A toy mаkег heard the story and asked Roosevelt if he could use his name on a toy bear. Roosevelt approved and the teddy bear was born.

When Morris and Rose Michtom saw the drawings of Roosevelt and the bear cub he was inspired to create a new toy. They created a little stuffed bear cub. They put it in his shop window with a sign that read "Teddy's bear".

The toys were an immediate success. The craze for "Roosevelt Bears" was such that ladies carried them everywhere, children were photographed with them.

The world's first teddy bear museum was set up in Petersfield England, in 1984. There are today many teddy bear museums around the world. Teddy bear festivals have now become popular around the world, taking place in Australia, America, Canada, Great Britain, Japan and Germany.

The teddy bear is a stuffed toy bear. They usually have smooth and soft fur. Now, teddy bears come in various styles. Teddy bears are the most popular gifts for children on Valentine's Day, birthdays, Christmas and other holidays.
