1. Узнать об уходе за животными в разных странах;
2. Выяснить какие клички встречаются в России и Англии;
3. Понять много ли бездомных животных в России и Англии;

I.Pets in Russia
1.1Dogs
Names
The most common names of dogs in Russia are: Sharik, Julya, Juja, Motya, Monya, Mosya, Naida, Lada, Muhtar, Sultan, Baikal, Drujok, Pirat, Polkan, Bobik, Tuzik, Bim.
Feeding and walking
In Russia there are a lot of dog lovers. Some people even have two or more dogs. But not everyone exactly knows how to take care of his or her dog. Here are some piece of advice how to feed and to walk your dog.
Nutrition determines the health of your pet, his activity and cheerfulness. Advertising strongly advises you to feed dogs and cats exclusively fodder. Of course, it is very convenient for the owners - you needn’t buy food very often, boil something special to your animal; but in the fodder there are a lot of vitamins, nutrients, etc.
But the vets don’t like this way of feeding. If your dog's diet will constantly consist of dry pellets, then eventually it could cause to stomach problems. Your pet may have gastritis or ulcers. To feed a dog the food which eats the whole family - is not right! The best decision to cook separately to your animal. The diet should consist of the following products: Raw meat and offal (tripe, lung, etc.), if you can’t do it every day then at least sometimes a week. Vegetables and herbs (carrots, cucumber, beets, zucchini, cabbage, bell pepper, parsley, dill, etc.). Dairy products (cheese, yogurt). Also it is good to give porridge from oats, buckwheat, rice with some meat. You should feed your animal 2 times a day, once after morning walk, and the second - after the evening walk. Portion sizes should depend from the weight of the dog and its activity. Small breed dogs eat smaller than the large breeds. Try not to overfeed your beloved pet! Weight is harmful and unwanted as for people as for dog.
Dog’s owners must walk his dog every day in the morning, afternoon and evening. But not everybody can walk three times a day. Often the owners can do it only in the morning an in the evening. This is not good for dogs, but it is a normal regime. We must remember that the animal should not only go "to the toilet", but also walk and play. The most important problem in Russia is that owners of dogs go for a walk and don’t clean the area where their dog pees and poops. When you are walking in the park it’s so disgusting when you step on the poo. People should think about others. They must take a scoop and the package during the walk. The second problem is that owners let their dogs run free in the streets. That’s why there are a lot of accidents. A dog can bite a child or an adult. It can run away from its owner. It can die if the car knocked it down. And also another dog can bite it. And the results could be terrible. So it must be a rule that the dog must be on a leash and with a muzzle on.
1.2 Cats
Names
The most common names of cats in Russia are: Barsik, Busya, Alisa, Persik, Tishka, Bosya, Ryjik, Pushok, Musya, Vaska, Dymka, Marsik.
Feeding and care
In Russia there are a lot of cat lovers too. It is easier to take care of a cat because you needn’t walk with it. And it saves the time of the owner. That’s why cat is also popular in Russia. Here is some advice how to take care of a cat.
Cats are very clean animals, constantly caring for themselves and keeping clean their place. Wild cats are usually passed to kittens the instinct of cleanliness. If the cat lives in the flat her owner needs to achieve a habit that his cat goes to the toilet in one place. Breeding of the kitten begins with his birth, and by age 4-6 weeks he developed certain reflexes.
While the animal is a kitten, you should feed it 5-6 times a day, every 2-3 hours. Portions should not be too large, and remainder of food is better to remove, in order that the next feeding you would offer the kitten fresh food. The older the kitten becomes, the more lengthened the intervals between feeding, a portion sizes should be increased and reduced the frequency of feedings. Kitty-teen is not eating at night, and eats 3-4 times a day. When the cat will be one year, you can feed it 2-3 meals per day.
If you decide to prepare food for the cat yourself – diversify its diet with boiled meat and vegetables, and low-fat dairy products, eggs and boiled fish.
If you don't have the time and opportunity to come up with new ideas of feeding of your cat and it is not too happy eating vegan meals, you can give it dry pallets. However, you shouldn’t economize on the cost of such feed.
There are cats that are quickly go to the toilet while the other can do it everywhere they like. Try to find the tray box so that it was comfortable for your cat. You need to choose a unnoticeable place, which is always available to a cat, where nobody will bother, and a suitable tray box. Cats have the habit to bury their results; some do it so hard that they can scatter the litter around the tray - in this case you should choose a closed box. Remove the poos in time and add filler, you need to remove it completely. When you are washing the tray box do not use strong-smelling substances. If you have more than one cat each of them should have their own tray box.
1.3 Birds
Names:
The most common names of birds in Russia are: Kesha, Gosha, Gora, Yasha, Glasha, Dasha, Janna, Ksusha. You should also take care of birds and know what do they eat. Here are some advice.
Feeding and care
Different birds have different diet. One of the most common mistakes of bird owners, is that they think that all birds are omnivores. This is not true. Besides, different species of birds need different diets. For example, parrot shouldn’t eat human food, those birds who eat insects mustn’t eat animal protein. It is strictly forbidden to give fried, salted, tinned, flour, and animal protein for birds older than 1-1,5 age. You should read carefully before you buy feeding for them Avoid feed additives, chemicals, so it will be better for the birds, check its shelf life and store it in the conditions recommended by the manufacturer of the feed. Good, but expired food can cause illness to your pet.
Another mistake of many owners of pet birds is that they forget about installing special bathing in the cage for the bird. In fact, all types of birds need water treatments, especially in the hot summer period, when the temperature of the column of the thermometer is high. The lack of water for bathing and the low humidity level in the room where you keep the bird, leads to dry skin. In the moult period it will have itching, because of this it can even start to pluck its feathers. Feathers grow worsen and they look dirty, become brittle and dry. Low percentage of humidity in the room also causes problems with the upper respiratory tract. So, do not forget that birds need water not only for drinking but also for bathing.
1.4 Rodents
Names:
The most common names of rodents in Russia are: Arisha, Asya, Bublik, Basusha, Kapitosha, Kroha, Rusik, Kuska.
When we say rodent we mean a hamster, a rat, a guinea pig, a rabbit and a chinchilla. All of these animals can have people from Russia. It is necessary to take care of them and here is some advice.
For all kinds of rodents, depending from their size, you need to choose the right cage. Their house should be spacious, bright and clean. It is better not to install houses with wooden frames for rodents, because they have sharp teeth, can damage the house and run away. The cage should have a plastic or metal tray that is easily removed and cleaned. The owner should also pay attention to the size of his pet; it is better to choose a bottle for drinking. They should have a little house in the cage that rodents could rest when they want.
Rodents eat a special feed which is sold at pet stores. If you want to treat your pet, you can give apples, carrots, pears, celery, beets. Straw should be changed once in two days; water should always be fresh. It isn’t important to wash pet rodents. You need to put the bowl with dry sand in the cage, and then the animals themselves will clean their fur. You need to let out your pet once a day to walk through the room, it’s not good when they run around the room too long — just look for them and don’t forget about they can bite all that they can chew.
Remember that pet rodents are not toys, they are living beings. It is undesirable to change owners, this gives them a lot of stress, because they are very shy. They do not like TV noise, shouting, swearing. If they are alone at home, of course, pet rodents are depressed and waiting for the owners, so don't forget about them, don't leave them for long periods of time alone, and when you come home from work, talk with your pet, treat with something tasty, let it run around the room.
1.5 Homeless pets
The problem of homeless pets is the result of our irresponsibility.
Homeless pets– is one of the main problems in Russia today. Dogs and cats, that live in the streets of our towns are always habitual part of urban ecosystem. Lots of them are – thrown and lost –they were loving pets or their descendants. The main problem is– irresponsible behavior to pets. Regarding to them who domesticated thoughtless or went past.
For the last 25-30 years the situation has sharpened with homeless pets. In large cities their quantity has doubled, it various from several to ten thousand dogs or cats. Uncontrolled growth of homeless dogs shows in their packed behavior. And dogs aggression rises to people in the streets. There are numerous attacks for passer or children. It causes hard injuries and maims. Another problem is a risk of getting infections.
Last problem of homeless animals in Russia has become the subject of staring attention, as public and authorities from all levels. The single solution is reduction of quantity of «homeless». However, not always people use civil ways for example sterilization, chipping of dogs or making shelters for them or more difficult variant in searching of the new owners. Unfortunately in our country authorities use terrible ways such as shooting and other ways of cruel killing.
II. Домашние животные в Англии
2.1. Отличия в уходе за животными в Англии
British are famous for their love to pets: almost every family has a pet. There are about 7 millions of cats, 6 millions of dogs, 1 million of budgies, 18 millions of gold fish. Every year the number of exotic animals increases: little piggies, tropical fish, spiders, reptiles.
British love pets very much. Pets have the best conveniences in Britain. There are different shops with clothes, toys and food. There are: hairdressing saloons and even graveyards for dogs. British organize shows and parties for the winners of the competitions. There is also the hotel in London airport , where pets can have a rest before and after arrival. There can be about 50 thousands of guests.
British think that they are the kindest people to pets in the world.
They choose the names for different reasons: for example by color Goldy , Snowy, Pinky; by size Tiny, Bubble, Thumper; or give them people’s names Tom, Albert, Peter; by their behavior and appearance: Spot, Perky, Chatter, Happy; sometimes even without any purpose.
It should be noticed that the British give birth take pets for different reasons. This is an opportunity to overcome loneliness, a way to express their individuality, relieve stress after work, and find a faithful companion for walks in the park and companion for jogging.
And for some people a dog is necessary not only as a friend but also as a protector.
How to take care of pets in UK
In the UK there are strict rules about keeping a pet. It is forbidden to neglect their needs, and for the indifferent and aggressive behavior the owners must pay fine, and even they could get a 6-month prison sentence and a lifetime ban on keeping animals.
The owners of cats and dogs must bring them for vaccination, to prevent diseases and treat fur from parasites.
2.2. Dogs
From 6th April 2016 government in UK introduced chipping for pets in the UK. It is compulsory micro chipping for dogs aged from 8 weeks and older.
DOG WALKING RULES IN BRITISH CITIES
There are also strict rules for dog lovers.
In particular, the behavior of the dogs must correspond to the regulations on the street during walks. You can walk the dog in the park and on urban lawns, but only if you will make a thorough cleaning for your pet immediately.
If you break these rules you may be fined in the amount of 50-80 pounds. And if you refuse to pay the amount, the sum will increase to £ 1000 and will be charged in court.
In this case, there is one exception to this rule for guide dogs.
More severe punishment is provided for owners of nervous and aggressive animals that present a threat to passers-by. They can get not only the fine but even the imprisonment up to 6 months.
But if someone suffer from the teeth or claws of your pet, you will stay in prison from 3 to 14 years it will depend from maims .
2.3 Cats
The UK is one of the few countries which fortunate to see the ancient cats that were brought from Ancient Egypt. It is believed that the first domestic cats were brought by the Romans, and this is proved by the skeletons of these animals found in the ruins of their homes. From the first day of appearance of such cats in Britain, they began to win love of English so it is no doubt that the history of cats in the UK began with a huge success.
In particular, it was found that the domestic cat in England was sold, and for a good price, which is regularly growing. In 948 year was appeared a special law according to which a newborn kitten is estimated at one penny and after he has caught at least one mouse, its price has risen to two pence, and it was quite a large sum in those days.
There were also laws that provide for severe punishment for theft and even more for killing cats. The greatest punishment waited the people who stole cats from the barn Prince: in those days, cats served in public service as hunters of rodents, which destroy the harvest, so that each animal was valuable. If someone stole a cat, he had to pay a huge bag of wheat for his crime, if it came to murder, the murderer, would be executed, too.
And by the 20th century the cats became one of the main favorites of the British, and still they are in great love by this nation. So today, nobody in England will forgive you if you offer him a seat, chose away the sleeping cat from the chair.
The compulsory care of cats includes :castration, which costs £30, weekly content for the tray costs £3-£4 and feeding Felix or Whiskas costs £4-£5 a week, depending on the taste preferences of the cat and its age. Food is divided into five age categories: kittens up to six months from six months and up to one year, adolescents, adults and senior cats. English homeless cats will never eat leftovers from your table, even if they are fat and tasty, such as salmon, lamb or turkey, but they will eat their cat food, smacking their lips with pleasure. Also there is an insurance, which will ease your expenses in case of illness or death of a pet, it costs about £50-£60 per year depending on the insurance company. Of course, you don't have to pay for insurance. But if the cat, get sick, and you'll take it to the veterinary clinic, the bill could amount to hundreds of pounds, if nothing special, and the thousands, if you got something serious and need urgent operation. And you don’t throw your friend in a trouble! In case you are going on vacation, and the British usually go twice a year, you should provide accommodation for your cats. One day costs at least £7-£8 per week you should pay £50-£60 per month.
2.4 Homeless pets
In Britain you can’t see homeless dogs or cats in the streets. It could happen only if a dog or a cat is lost. However they live in country houses and there you can see foxes, hares, raccoons, badgers, hedgehogs, partridges, pheasants and many others. Starlings lay eggs in their nests at the attics. Tame squirrels run to you to eat dainty nuts. Also you can see foxes which are crossing the road. Hedgehogs usually come to the garden and search the food. Poor hares, partridges and pheasants become the victim of automobile accidents. Near the lakes and rivers there are a lot of birds. You can see: ducks, geese and swans. Everyone is happy, people don’t shoot at birds, don’t kill animals, but they feed them and pay attention to their population. Birds and animals are not afraid and come closer to take bread from their hands.
However you can’t see pets like dogs and cats in the streets. It can be only if they are lost. Homeless cats and dogs live in shelters. But it could be difficult to adopt it. There are some famous shelters in UK: «Cats protection» and «Dogs protection». They are houses for cats and dogs, which are close with a cage. They can live alone or about two or three animals in one cage. It depends from their temper. In every cage there is a litter, where they sleep, bowls with food and water and different toys. There is a but for all this comfort will pay future owner. People walk and look through the glass doors an choose the best friend. But the workers of the shelter ask you different questions before they make sure that you have good facilities for the keeping of the pet. It is important to have a big area near your house to walk your pet or to have enough space, where it will live. Then the owner must sign the contract, where he agrees to feed the pet three times a day, wash it, and castrate it. The owners often do the hole in the door and the pets could walk free. After the employee from the shelter will come to your house and check the facilities you should sign the contract and pay a minimal donation from £50.In the shelter the stuff implant the chip into the pet. If you put special device to the pet you could understand the name of the owner and the address of the pet.
III. Research: Which animals are more important in Russia and in England.
I read a lot of information about how to care of pets in these two countries. I looked through which animals are more common and made a chart for comparison.
On the first diagram I examined facts that show how often people take care of pets in England. We can see that on the first place are cats. This is because people needn’t walk with cats so they economize their time. Also it depends from the temper of the man, if he or she is calm and phlegmatic it is easier to take care of a cat. Because a cat sleeps and eat all the time. On the second place are dogs. The dogs are taken by funny and energetic people. More often they aren’t lazy and walk with their pet with a pleasure. On the third place are birds. If the man has a little time and he or she is lonely it’s a good variant to buy a bird. They are very clever animals because they can talk with their owners. On the fourth place are rodents, for example: rats, hamsters, guinea pigs and chinchillas. It is the most popular animal among kids. They try to take care of small animals and in that way they prove their parents that could care of a cat or a dog. And there are not many people without pets because English are great pet’s lovers.
On the second diagram I examined facts that show how often people take care of pets in Russia. We can see that the first place take dogs. It is because people come to walk very rarely. They spend all time at work and at the same time they have low wages. They become upset and find love and attention in dogs. Dogs meet their owners with big happiness. People walk with them and forget about their dull jobs. Second place take cats. Cats are nice, fluffy animals, that are lying on you purr and take off a stress. Third place take rodents: rabbits, hamsters, rats and others. They are funny, quick and there isn’t so much noise and dirt from them. Fourth place take birds. They are not so common because they are noisy and there are a lot of dirt from them. However we can see that in Russia there are more people without pets. This is because people don’t have enough free time and very often they don’t have extra money.
