Kirill Ivanovich was born in the 17th of March in 1909 in the village of Kupsola Sernursky District.

Yvan Kyrlya grew up as an orphan. His father was killed by his fists. His mother was left with three children in her arms. Kyrlya managed to finish school and enter the technical school of Kazan University. Teachers noticed his extraordinary artistic abilities and sent him to the Drama department of the State College of Cinematography (VGIK now).

Ivan Kyrlya After graduating the actor worked in the studio " Vostokfilm ". In 1937 he was preparing for the title role in the movie " Nasreddin in Bukhara," written by Soloviev . But the shooting was stopped. In early 1937 Kurlya moved to Yoshkar-Ola and became an artist of Mari State Drama Theatre. But that year he was arrested. It happened in the 23rd of April. According to official facts, he died in 1943 from malnutrition and serious illness in the camp near Sverdlovsk. Thus, the destiny of a great Mari artist ended.
