DESCRIPTION Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire(county of England ). One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is the remains of a ring of standing stones set within earthworks. It is in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.

WHY ANCIENT PEOPLE NEEDED IN SOME BUILDING LIKE THIS At the beginning of the XIX century version of Stonehenge as the sanctuary of the Druids was proved. Some people thought it was the tomb of pagan queen Boadicea. The authors of the XVIII century noticed that the position of the stones can be linked to astronomical phenomena such as summer and winter solstice, but it is still a great mystery.
