The Roman empire was the greatest antique state. It was one of the leading civilizations of the Ancient world , and received the name of the main city - Rome.The Roman Empire achieved its blossoming in 98 year A. D., approximately 1900 years ago, when Trojan was the emperor of the Empire.

Some of researchers think that Rome created the original civilization. Besides, The Romans were great politicians and lawmakers. That's why they had strong authority above all territories.

Ancient Rome reached peak of the power in II century A. D., when under its control there was a territory from modern Scotland in the north up to Ethiopia in the south, from Armenia in the east up to Portugal in the West. On territory which Roman empire owned in those days, now there are 34 states.

The Roman army was the most advanced among other states of the Ancient world. Thus the main fighting force was infantry.

The basic advantages of the Roman army were : mobility, flexibility and tactic.

Romans expanded the power and force with wars with the nearest peoples and took part in sea battles. Battles were successful and expanded borders, power and riches of the state. The Roman empire began to expand the borders : in the south - to Africa, in the north and the West - to Europe. From all seized states they delivered gold, jewels, expensive kinds of trees and so on.. Legions of the Roman army grasped modern England and Scotland and founded many cities, including London.

But in V century A.D. Roman empire has broken up on the West Roman empire and East Roman empire (Byzantium).
