Introduction. London's Royal Hall of Arts and Sciences at the Albert or Albert Hall - the most prestigious concert hall UK. Built in memory of Prince Consort Albert with his widow Queen Victoria. Located in South Kensington - London area, teeming with cultural institutions of the Victorian era.

History. In 1851, with the direct participation of Prince Albert in London organized the first in the history of World Expo. To accommodate the current exposure near Albert Hall, Hyde Park, was built Crystal Palace. After the death of her husband in 1861, Queen conceived to perpetuate his memory construction of the Albert Hall. The opening ceremony of the concert hall held March 29, 1871. Queen with emotion could not utter a word, so Prince Edward compelled said for it: "The Queen declares open this room."

Modernity. Each year, the Royal Albert Hall hosts approximately 350 events including classical music concerts, operas and ballets, award ceremonies, charity concerts, banquets.

In 1956, Alfred Hitchcock shot in the Royal Albert Hall climactic scene of an action film "The Man Who Knew Too Much." Also held celebrations with the participation of students at Imperial College London. Albert Hall can be visited in the order of tourist excursions.

The Council is composed of the annually elected President, currently Mrs. Anthony Travis, 18 elected Members and five Appointed Members, one each from Imperial College London, Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, British Museum of Natural History and Royal College of Music.

ABBA - finished their tour of Europe in 1977 two concerts. 8. The Who - recorded DVD and double album Live at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000. 9. Robbie Williams – 10 October 2001, made a song from the album 10.Swing When You're Winning, including songs by Frank Sinatra.

Awards. The Hall has won several awards across different categories. From 1994 to 1998 and in 2003, the Hall won 'International Venue Of The Year' in the Pollstar Awards. In 2004 and 2005 the Hall won 'International Small Venue Of The Year' in the Pollstar Awards. In 2006 to 2010, the Hall won 'International Theatre Of The Year' in the Pollstar Awards. The Hall has won International Live Music Conference Award for 'First Venue to Come Into Your Head' in 1998, 2009 and 2013.

From 2008 to 2012 the Hall was voted Superbrands leading Leisure and Entertainment Destination. In 2010 and 2011 the Hall won 'Best Venue Teamwork Award' at the Live UK Summit. The 'Life At The Hall blog won 'Best Venue Blog' at the Prestigious Star Awards in 2012 and the Prestigious Star Award Landmark in 2013.
