Sochi is a resort city located in Krasnodar Krai of Russia on the Black Sea coast of the North Caucasus region. Sochi is the largest resort city in Russia. The city is informally called as a “summer resort capital” of Russia . It stretches along the Black Sea coast to 145 km . The population is about 400 thousand people.

The temperature in Sochi The average summer temperature in Sochi is 26°, sea water - 24°. The average winter temperature is kept at + 8 °. The excellent climate, clean sea, fresh sea air, the unique southern vegetation contribute to people's health.

A winter resort Krasnaya Polyana One of the most promising investment areas is called Krasnaya Polyana , that is often called Russian Switzerland. There is a lot of snow. It can develop this region as a winter resort. There is an active construction of new ski runs, ski lifts and hotels.

The Arboretum The Arboretum is an open-air museum. It is the most beautiful botanical park of the country. There are lots of samples of flora of the Western Caucasus and many southern countries. In total, there are more than 1,600 species of plants. You can see the Metasequoia , which scientists believed that it was extinct 60 million years ago, but they discovered few plants in 1944 in China and brought some seeds and grew trees in the Sochi Arboretum.

The Cathedral of the Archangel Michael In honor of the end of the Caucasian War The Cathedral of the Archangel Michael was built in 1864. The Cathedral is one of the ornaments of the city, which attracts the attention of tourists.

The Berendeevo Kingdom The Park " Berendeevo kingdom" is a wonderful natural sight of the resort of Lazarevskoye . It is located in the valley Kuapse and this park fully justifies its fabulous name. Y ou can look at the cascade of seven waterfalls and explore stone dolmens.

The park 'Riviera' The Park "Riviera" is one of the most unique places over the nature. Riviera Park has become a part of the historical and cultural heritage and natural monument of Sochi. For about 240 different species and forms of trees and shrubs can be seen in the Riviera Park. People can walk along the alley, visit a unique rose garden and take ride in attractions.

The Glade of Frienship The Glade of Friendship is a major tourist attraction in the Riviera Park. The first tree was planted here in 1960, and then, many politicians, artists, astronauts put here an entire grove. 45 Russian cosmonauts and American astronauts planted their trees, such as German Titov , Valentina Tereshkova, Alexei Leonov , Thomas Stafford .

The Stalin's villa The Stalin's villa in Sochi is one of 18 leader's residences. It is believed that Stalin loved his residence in Sochi more than others. The villa was turned into a museum, but little things has changed. There is the lack of luxury. No valuable paintings or furniture, everything is strict and simple. The facade is painted in dull green to be more invisible from the air.

The Mandarin Hall The Mandarin Hall is the most striking and modern concert hall. Orange colours can be seen everywhere . The unusual thing is the scene rises from the huge pool. It shows many interesting performances such as theater-circus show "Argonauts".

The XXII Olympic Winter Games were a major international multi-sport event held from February 7 to February 23 in Sochi. The Olympics and Winter Paralympics were organized by the Sochi Organizing Committee. 98 events in 15 winter sport disciplines were held during the Games. This city has a long and interesting history, lots of exciting sights. Sochi is the place of the Olympics, the most important sports and historical events. It shows an enormous potential of our country to the world .
