Christopher Columbus (1451 - 1506) – a well- known explorer who discovered America. He was born on the island of Corsica.

In 1470h's Christopher Columbus went to sea expeditions for commercial purposes. But even then, in his biography of Columbus the idea of traveling to India via the west. Five times the expedition of Columbus was rejected in different countries. Only in 1492the journey of Columbus was approved. He was awarded the title of "Don", the promised reward in the case of a successful project.

During the first expedition in his biography, Christopher Columbus discovered the Bahamas, Haiti, Cuba.

During the second voyage of Columbus his fleet consisted of 17 vessels already. Then the discoveries of Christopher Columbus included Virgin, Lesser Antilles, Jamaica, Puerto Rico. On his return to Spain, Columbus offered to settle the newly discovered lands with criminals.

The third expedition of Christopher Columbus was made in 1498. The most important discovery of Columbus was the island of Trinidad. However, at the same time Vasco da Gama found the true path to India, returning with a rich profit. Columbus as a navigator was declared a fraud and was sent to Spain.
