Pavel Semenovich Kuzmin was born on 2 nd of January 1914 in the family of workers. Having finished the school he worked in an electric power station as an operator . After the accident which he could prevent P. Kuzmin was sent for studying in Leningrad High Naval college . In 1938 he graduated with honors from this college and started to serve aboard the Baltic Fleet submarine Sch-303 . In October 1940 lieutenant Kuzmin graduated from special courses for officers and on 24 th of October 1941 he became a captain of the submarine Sch-408 . Pavel Semenovich Kuzmin The deed In 1941 the submarine wasn’t completely built and was ready only in May 1943 . On 18 th of May 1943 the submarine started its first and the last journey . The submarine Sch-408 was destroyed in Baltic Sea on 22 nd of May 1943 года. While breaking antisubmarine barrier Sch-408 was damaged and was to rise to the top. During two-hours battle the submarine could sink two enemy boats but had terrible troubles and went down with the Naval flag on the top of the submarine.

In 1944 P.S. Kuzmin was posthumously awarded with The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire . The head of Submariner club asked the Naval Archives if Sch-408 crew hadn’t been rewarded in Russia. The team of 504 school joined this request. Some activists are going to organize the searching expedition in the area of Sch-408 destruction. Students from our school are looking for the relatives of Sch-408 crew. It is also planned to restore memorial plate and enlarge school museum. Nobody is forgotten - nothing is forgotten

Memory is stronger than the time There is a street near our school named after submariner Kuzmin. You can find a memorial plate on the house #4. In 1960-s there was P.S.Kuzmin submarine museum in our school #504. The museum existed till 1990 and then was closed. In 2013 the museum was recreated with the help of school graduates and teachers and Kirovskiy district administration.
