The person constantly interacts with the nature, and thanks to this interaction there is a formation of national mentality . The complex of factors, characteristic for each sphere, in the macro social plan leaves the mark on national character or mentality of the nation and on nature of interaction with other communities. Whether the person in tropics grows up, in polar latitudes or in a temperate climate - all this, anyway, influences its way of thinking and behavior in psychophysical and social and psychological aspects.

Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. It occupies about one seventh part of dry land. Its total area is over 17 million square kilometres.Russia is washed by twelve seas and three oceans: the Atlantic, the Arctic, the Pacific . The land of Russia varies a lot from heavy forests to barren deserts, from high peaked mountains to deep valleys.The Urals is the longest mountain chain. There are various types of climate on the territory of Russia. In the south the temperature is usually above zero all year round. The climate of Siberia is continental: summers are hot and dry, winters are very cold. Russia is a land of long rivers and deep lakes. Russia is rich in natural resources.

Living in the territory where the winter lasts about half a year, Russians developed in themselves huge will power, persistence on fight for a survival in the conditions of a frigid climate. Low temperature during the most part of year affected and temperament of the nation. Russians are more melancholic, sluggish, than West Europeans . They should keep and accumulate the energy necessary for fight against cold.

The North Eurasian character of the country was built up by type of national psychology which not only doesn't correspond to the prevailing world tendencies, but is directly opposite to them.

Russians long since along with agriculture had to go in also for any crafts. The practical orientation of their mind, dexterity and rationality is explained by it. To live in such unpredictable conditions when the result of work depends on nature whims, it is possible only with inexhaustible optimism.

Observation, thoughtfulness, concentration and contemplation — is those qualities which were cultivated in the Russian soul by the Russian landscapes. In many respects peculiar features of the Russian mentality are defined by extensiveness of spaces of Russia. The huge, sparsely populated territory demanded for the development of special type of the people capable to resolute actions, impudent and brave.

Any people in Europe aren't capable to such intense work for a short time. Such diligence is inherent, perhaps, only in Russians. Here so the climate multilaterally influences the Russian mentality. The originality of the Russian nature, its whims and unpredictability were reflected in mentality of Russians, in a manner of his thinking. In fight against unexpected deprivations and thaw, against unforeseen August frosts and January slush he became more circumspect, than is precautionary, was learned to notice more a consequence, than to set the purposes.
