I am very happy that I live in one of the most beautiful cities of the world. It’s Moscow. Moscow is not only the capital of Russia but it’s a unique city, because there are a lot of sightseeing in Moscow. What are the most popular of them? I have asked fifty people about it-parents, teachers, classmates. They mentioned a lot of places of interest in Moscow. I have chosen the most popular ones.

The Moscow River Moscow is situated on the Moscow River. It’s so beautiful and long! It’s 502 kilometres!

The Kremlin The Kremlin is situated on Borovitskiy Hill. The chronicles first mentioned it in 1156 as “Moscow Fortress” It’s the first map of the Moscow Kremlin.

The Tsar Bell It was made by Russian craftsmen Ivan Matorin and Michael Matorin in 1733-1735. It weighs about 200 tons!

The Tsar Cannon It’s a monument of Russian arts. It was made of bronze in 1586. Its length is 5.34 metres. It is decorated by the depiction of Russian Tsar Fyodor Ivanovich.

Red Square is the heart of Moscow. Here you can see the Lenin Mausoleum, the monument to Minin and Pozharskiy, the Lobnoye Place, tsar orders were read from it.

St. Basil’s Cathedral Travellers admired this church in the 16 th century. And we admire it now. It consists of 8 churches with onion cupolas. It has about 400 icons.

The Vorobyovy Hills It’s one of the most picturesque places of Moscow. It’s the right bank of the Moscow River in the south-east.

Moscow State University is the oldest university in Russia. It was 250 years old in 2005. A lot of famous people studied there: A.Chekhov, M. Lermontov, A. Griboedov. Now there are more than 40 thousand students in this university.

The Tretyakov Gallery This gallery was founded by Russian merchant Pavel Tretyakov in 1856. It has a large collection of wonderful works of art.

Ostankino TV Tower Its height is 540 metres. The square is 15000 square metres. It’s so large, that weighs 51400 tons.
