“As busy as a bee” Nowadays a lot of people pay less attention to cultural values than they used to do in the past. They are too busy as they are involved in daily routine.

The results Questionnaire among students showed that most of them are interested in painting and know Russian famous painters but they rarely visit exhibitions and don’t know northern painters.

The aim of our project: t o arouse the students’ interest in art; to show the students that we can be proud of the artists living in our city Hypothesis: people of art living in Severodvinsk make the world around us brighter and happier Our tasks: to study literature, the materials of the Internet sites about the people of art living in Severodvinsk; to tell our school students about a well-known northern artist; to show our schoolmates that art plays an important role in our lives

One of the talented people who live in our town is a young but already well-known artist Alexander Menukhov .

Alexander works in different techniques such as engraving on cardboard, linocut, oil painting and watercolours .

His most famous work is illustrations for the book of Pisakhov’s fairy-tales.

He is a real adventurist and experimenter, so he tries himself in different trends of art.

Now his new passion is send-art.

Alexander takes part in different projects and competitions even in international ones. He organises personal exhibitions, as well.

His pupils say that due to his lessons they perceive the world around them in another creative way . He is a teacher at Severodvinsk art school.

He gets inspiration from Northern nature. One of his favourite places is the coast of the White sea.

He believes that if you can draw it doesn’t matter what materials you use because “images appear in your mind themselves and the main aim of art is freedom".

Conclusion Art is a whole and indivisible part of our life. Visual art is the ultimate form of communication as it knows no barriers and is therefore universal in its expression. When you look at a picture you have a chance to experience such feelings as delight, pleasure, love for others, and desire to do something for them. Our native land is rich in talented people. They help us to perceive art, thus to become better.
