Louisa May Alcott was born in 1832 in America in Concord ( The state Massachusetts). A writer in the future, she was born in a friendly poor family.

Her father ( Amos Bronson Alcott) was the son of a poor farmer. In childhood he taught himself literacy and became one of the most educated people of his time. He started a number of schools in the states of Concord and Pennsylvania and also in Boston.

Louisa’s mother ‘ Abigal May Alcott ‘ was from a noble English family . She was housewife and brought up four daughters. She helped the poor , became the first paid sociable worker in the state of Massachusetts.

When the girl was two years old, the family moved to Boston , where Amos Alcott started an experimental school .

Ann Louisa Elizabeth May Louisa and her three sisters got their education at home under the guest of their father. The girls were friendly and often staged Louisa’s plays in the neighbor’s barn.

The family had little money and Louisa tried to find some income. She worked as a seamstress, a maid, a companion and a teacher. All this she described in her books.

During the Civil war she served as a nurse in a military hospital in Georgetown. Later she wrote ‘Hospital essays’ where she described her work in the hospital.

Success came to her in 1868, when she wrote the story ‘Little women’ about the growing up of the four daughters of the March family.

The income from the sale of this book and the following books allowed her to provide the wealth of her parents and dedicate herself to creativity.

She died on the 6 th of March 1888 in Boston and was buried in Concord. At Present in the house where family lived there is a Museum.
