bagpipes The word "bagpipe" in many closely associated with the image of a Scotsman, dressed in a plaid cloth, in whose hands the musical instrument, which emits a very loud and captivating sounds. Many believe that the bagpipes - a purely Scottish instrument is a Scottish invention. In fact, bagpipes, as well as many other musical instruments, came to Europe from the East. According to one of the existing versions, the bagpipe was in Scotland thanks to the Vikings. It brought back the Normans, whose troops carried out voyages throughout Europe and came to the British Isles. Another version says that the bagpipe was introduced in Scotland by the Romans .

Values greater than the kilt was very great, because he not only provide maximum freedom of movement, but also could be used as a blanket, and during inclement weather free end served as a hood.It was only in the 18th century, the upper part of the kilt was cut off, as many workers was uncomfortable to wear a spare piece of fabric. And there was the well-known Scottish skirt, whose name has changed quite a bit - from the big kilt it turned into a small

Scotland occupies the northern third of the island of Great Britain. Scotland is a very small country. It’s about 274 miles long. The river Tweed and the Cheviot Hills form Scotland’s border with England. The Northwest Channel separates Scotland from Northern Ireland in the south-west. In the north and in the west the country is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The eastern coast is washed by the North Sea, which separates Scotland from the mainland of Europe. It should also be mentioned that Scotland includes over 790 islands. The population of the country is about 5 million people. The country’s main industrial cities are Glasgow, which is the largest one in Scotland, and Edinburgh, the capital of the country. Edinburgh is also one of the largest financial centres of Europe. Scottish waters of the North Atlantic and the North Sea contain the largest oil reserves in the European Union. That is why Aberdeen has been given the title of Europe’s oil capital.
