That’s me, Maria Spirina. I’m 12. I’m happy to go to school, have my family and friends. On the 9-th of May we are going to celebrate the most remarkable holiday in our country – the Victory Day. War veterans often visit our school and tell us what gave them strength to be brave and fight against the enemy in the Great Patriotic war. I’m proud of my great-grandfather Afonin Alexei Antonovich. He belongs to the heroes who helped to save the world from fascism.

We’ve got a family album. Some photos in it are devoted to my great-grandfather Afonin Alexei Antonovich. My great-grandfather was born in Siberia in a peasant family in 1919. He went to school, worked. In 1939 he was sent to the Far East. He took part in the war against Japan . My great-grandpa Alexei Antonovich and his daughter Nina (my granny).

My great-grandfather was called to defend our Motherland in 1943. The first battle he took part in was the Tank battle on Kursk Arc. He was wounded there and brought to a Novosibirsk hospital.

My great-grandfather took part in the liberation of Poland and Germany, in a heroic battle for Berlin. He has got 13 awards: orders and medals.

Alexei Antonovich was awarded for courageous fight against fascists. His awards you can see in the city museum of Novosibirsk.

You can see the Alexander Nevsky order my great-grandpa was proud of most of all. He was awarded for his brave fight for Berlin.

My great-grandpa returned home in 1945. He lived and worked in Novosibirsk region.

We don’t have the right to forget the horror of the Great Patriotic war. We must remember everybody and everything. My great-grandpa returned home in 1945. He lived and worked in Novosibirsk region . My great-grandfather died at the age of 92 in 2012. My family keep the memory. I’m proud of my great-grandpa Alexei Antonovich who lived and fought for our happy future.
