Islam is the second most popular religion in the world Islam began in Arabia and revealed to humanity by Muhammad The Holy Book of Islam- Koran The main Muslim Festival is Ramadan. During Ramadan all Muslims do not eat and drink during the hours of daylight. The Muslim building for worship is called a mosque.

In our city we have got a mosque. It is situated on Kronverk Prospect near the Troitsky Bridge. The construction of the Mosque lasted from 1910 till 1914 .

The building is crowned with the huge ribbed dome. It is bright blue and crowed with a gilded moon. The Mosque can be seen from far away.

T he building of the Mosque consists of two minarets. IThey are one of the main parts of the Mosques. From these minarets the Moslems are called to prayer. The walls of the Mosque are made of grey granite.

The main entrance and a huge doms are embelished with colorful geometrical ornaments. The façade of the building is also embelished with the citations from the Koran .

The interior of the Mosque is faced with green and blue artificial marble and of course the citations from the Koran are on the columns. The Mosque consists of three floors. The first floor is for man’s prayers. The second floor is for women’s prayers and on the third floor there are classes for learning Arabic and Koran.

The Blue Mosque This Mosque is situated in Turkey, Istanbul. On the bank of the Marble sea.The construction work lasted from 1609 till 1616.The Mosque has 6 minarets with balconies. A lof of stone and marble were used for construction. The Mosque called « The Blue Mosque » because white and blue ceremic tiles were used. The domes are decorated with citations from the Koran.

The interior of the Mosque is embelished with images of different flowers, such as tulip , lily, clove and rose. There are more then 50 different versions of tulips images. The building has more then 260 windows that’s why there is enough light there. And there are a lot of carpets on the floor.
