The completion of the cathedral was entrusted to Alexei Ivanov . The cathedral is similar in design to the St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral. It was eventually consecrated in 1781. In the 19 th century, two chapels were added to the Cathedral by the architect Nikolai Grebenka .
