Some history about town Birthday of SPb is considered on May 16, 1703 when the sovereign Pyotr Alekseeich Romanov - Pyotr Veliky put the fortress called St. Petersburg that means “Saint Peter fortress” .

History of Vyborgsky district Vyborgsky district is one of 18 administrative regions of St. Petersburg. There is it in northern part of the city, is educated in 1917. Historically this area belonged to the Vyborg party – all right-bank part of St. Petersburg so was called. From here the road to Vyborg began. The total area of the area makes 11 550 hectares. Population for January 1, 2014 – 469 233 people.

Sights of Vyborgsky district Sosnovka The organization of park began in 1913. During the Great Patriotic War in Sosnovka the military airfield settled down. Numerous trenches and entrenchments which traces remained still were dug. Near airfield there was a military cemetery in which buried pilots and antiaircraft gunners. After war the cemetery became memorial, and today in park it is possible to see a monument to pilots.

Sights of Vyborgsky district Lembolovsky stronghold The memorial the Lembolovsky stronghold enters the Leningrad Green belt of Glory. Here in September, 1941 parts of 23 armies stopped the Finnish approach. On September 9 Red Army men, seamen and frontier guards got up to death and held the fort up to approach in 1944. Part of a memorial is the monument to pilots 44 shelves which made a fiery ram on July 11, 1942.

Sights of Vyborgsky district Levashovsky memorial cemetery The Levashovsky memorial cemetery is a largest place of burial of the victims of Stalin repressions of 1937 - 1953. In total here about 45 thousand people, the killed or the dead in prisons of Leningrad were buried: generals, officers, soldiers, scientists, orthodox nuns, priests, deaf-and-dumb children and old men.

Sights of Vyborgsky district Monument to defenders of the Leningrad sky The monument was erected in 1978, it represents the eight-meter obelisk located on the three-stage basis with a bronze bas-relief. The monument represents the pilot who tensely peers afar. Near a monument the heroes pilots who were lost during the Great Patriotic War and shot down a set of enemy planes are buried.

Some brightest events in Saint-Petersburg Siege of Leningrad The Siege of Leningrad — military blockade of the city of Leningrad by the German, Finnish and Spanish troops with participation of volunteers from North Africa, Europe and the Navies of Italy during the Great Patriotic War. It lasted from September 8, 1941 to January 27, 1944 — 872 days.
