Great Lent prepares Christians for the greatest feast of the church - Easter. Easter is also called Pasch or Resurrection Sunday , is a festival and holiday celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, described in the New Testament. Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, in December , 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. Christmas Day is a public holiday in many of the world's nations, is also celebrated by a large number of non-Christians.

Saint Isaac's Cathedral Saint Isaac's Cathedral in Saint Petersburg, is the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in the city. The main iconostasis was made of white marble and it is supported by columns of malachite and lapis-lazuli. We can see a lot of paintings and mosaic works of the best artists. The temple is decorated with more than 300 statues and sculptural groups. There are more than 60 mosaic works of Russian artists.

St. Andrew's Cathedral Dedicated to Saint Andrew There are five domes - one large and four small. It was constructed in classical and baroque styles. Inside, the walls are decorated with stucco decorations and it has a rich elegant three-tiered iconostasis .

Kazan Cathedral It is a cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church on Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg. The cathedral is 69 metres in length and 62 metres height. The cathedral's huge bronze doors are one of three copies of the original doors of the Baptistry in Florence, Italy.

Peter and Paul Cathedral ( Peterhof ) The cathedral was built in the style of Russian architecture of the XVI-XVII centuries. Externally, the temple has a pyramidal shape and crowned with five tented chapters. Its height is about 70 meters. The walls are lined with dark red and light yellow bricks and glazed tiles, decorated with columns of sandstone and tiles. On the facades the icons of the saints - patrons of the royal family . were placed.

Cathedral of the Holy Trinity ( Kolpino ) Orthodox church in Kolpino on the river Izhora .(2003-2009) The first building of the cathedral was a five-domed church with a dominant central dome and four small. It was in the shape of a cross. The c entral three-tiered iconostasis was pale blue with sixteen gilded columns and gilded figures of ten angels. In 1958 the cathedral was dismantled. Now we can see only a new cathedral built in 2003-2009.
