    “…Over the abyss covered with the darkness and in which everything was mixed – ground, water, fire and air, vividly creating God’s spirit was flying and by His desire this dark, disgusting abyss ….transformed in a beautiful world…”

              …The clouds are swimming slowly in the blue sky, warm rays of the sun are motherly hugging the Earth, birds are singing, flowers smell pleasant…

               God’s world is wonderful! Maybe Creater watches His “trade” from the unbelievable heights and sees all good and bad too…  

  …And I want to tell you about my small and favourite motherland, about how God is glorified on my land in Valuyskiy district.

      To no purpose Belogorye is called holly. I think there are no places where a lot of temples and churches were as in our Belgorodskaya region. Belogoriye shines with gold domes, sparkles with mellow chine of bells, prays about rescue in God’s Houses.

      Our settlement Urazovo has got its name from the river Urazovka. In V.Radlov’s opinion, a researcher of local lore, the name of that river takes place from a word “uraz” that is translated as “success”.

      In Urazovo there are two temples. We start our travelling from one of them. The temple of Saint Mother God’s icon “Znameniye” is situated in the center of settlement on the Red Square.

It was built in 1806 on means of Alexandr Galitsyn, owner of these lands. The first stone was laid down in 1750 and in 1806 the building was finished. In 1879 under Ivan Nikolayevich Afanasyev’s leadership a tower with a bell was attached to the temple. The temple “Znameniye” is a monument of architecture nowadays.

        The second temple is situated in Oktyabrskaya Street. This is Ioan Predtechi’s temple. It was built in 1898 on means of rich merchants brothers Kiryanovy. One of them had been working there as a servant for 36 years.

       The temple was kept thanks to the local collective farmers that had used it as a depository of grain. In 70-s the building was repaired for the Regional Museum. It was open in 1988. In 2000 it removed to the building belonging to school №1 in Urazovo.                                                                                                                                

Restored Ioan Predtechi’s church was hallowed by Ioan, archbishop Belgorodskiy and Starooskolskiy, on May 15th in 2005.

      Nowadays parishioners come there to pray on religious holidays and on    weekdays.

       In God’s House there is no place bustle, envy and pride. It unites poor and rich, ill and healthy, kind and not very. I often attend our temples and pray for my relatives and friends.

   And now I would like you to know about a holy place in village Suharevo that attracts a lot of people from all outskirts. It is situated in several kilometers to the north from Urazovo. A history of a temple in Suharevo stars from the beginning of XX century when it was built. First, it was a wooden temple that burnt down at the beginning of 1980-s. On that place a temple of Leading to the God’s Holy Mother’s temple was built. Nowadays on a Miheeva hill in Suharevo a temple complex called Jerusalem is built. It is an analog of the holy town where according to legend an ancient clerical town Jerusalem was situated. A wooden cross of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion, an Unction Stone, a chapel of God’s Mother’s icon “Derzhavnaya” remind to orthodoxy people about holy Jerusalem.   On the territory of the temple complex there is a Holy Ioan Predtechi’s temple with a chapel. Entrance in a complex takes its place through Holy Entrance Gates. The complex are still building thanks to archbishop Phyodor, talented iconwriter, a carver on wood, an architect who was hallowed by God to create temples.

  “Pray for Russ until a candle is being alight, until bells are ringing”. I invite you   to visit our holy places and admire their unforgettable beauty!

And bells that have been kept silence are playing trough great Russ! There was less grief in their chime than gladness, hope, celebrations and music came to Belogorye and informed – Motherland’s alive!”…
