Hi! My name is Andrew Shershukov . I am 11 years old. I live in Saratov. I like swimming and computer games. I have a dream to visit London and take a ride on the London Eye. You don’t see much of a country if you have only several days. But if you plan a trip in advance you will see a lot. Today I am going to present my plan of a trip to London.

Quick facts about London London is the biggest city in Britain and in Europe. London occupies over 620 square miles. London was the first city in the world to have an underground railway, known as the “Tube”. There are over 100 theatres in London.

London Eye The London Eye is the world's highest observation wheel. It stands 135 meters high. The London Eye can carry 800 passengers at a time on a thirty-minute ride. The total weight of steel in the Eye is 1,700 tons.

Tower of London For over 900 years, the Tower of London has been standing guard over the capital. It has witnessed many great events in British history. The Tower of London is better known as a prison. Many people have been locked in the Tower, for religious beliefs or suspected treason. Famous prisoners have included Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I. Ravens have lived at the Tower of London for hundreds of years. Legend has it that if the ravens ever leave the Tower of London a great disaster will befall England.

Tower Bridge Tower Bridge has stood over the River Thames in London since 1894 and is one of the finest, most recognisable bridges in the World. It is the London bridge you tend to see in movies and on advertising literature for London. Tower Bridge is the only Thames bridge which can be raised.

Royal London English (later British) kings and queens have lived in London for almost 1,000 years. Since 1837 the monarch has lived in Buckingham Palace. The men you see in front of Buckingham Palace (and other locations in London as well as Windsor) are the Queen's Guard (Foot Guards).

Big Ben Big Ben is one of the most famous landmarks in the world. The name Big Ben is often used to describe the clock tower that is part of the Palace of Westminster. Big Ben chimes every 15 minutes and the sound can be heard for a radius of up to 5 miles.

Museums Natural History Museum is home to a permanent dinosaur exhibition and boasts a collection of the biggest, tallest and rarest animals in the world. In Science Museum you can see, touch and experience the major scientific advances of the last 300 years

Lond o n transport London's double-decker red buses are world famous. The city has nearly 1,ooo bus routes. London's distinctive taxis, black cabs, are as much a feature of city life as its red double-decker buses. All black cab drivers must pass a test known as 'The Knowledge' before they are licensed to operate a taxi.

Sport in London Wimbledon's centre court is world famous for Tennis Championship. For the last two weeks in June the whole London goes tennis mad. London has a special place in the history of football. The modern game of football was first codified in 1863 in London and subsequently spread worldwide.

And one more thing. If you are going to England be prepared for the weather. It can get cold and wet so make sure you have warm waterproof clothing.
