Heavens sain her!
15 September 1890 in Torquay, shire Devon, Agatha Miller was born. But who is this Miller? Everyone better know her as Agatha Christi. She is the one of the most popular English writer of detective fictions. However, her biography is no less interesting than the stories from her books. Her parents were wealthy settlers from the United States. Agatha received good home education, especially, musical. In World War’s time Agatha worked as a pharmacist that subsequently left a mark on her creation: 83 crimes, which she thought out, were committed by poisoning. During her life, Agatha was awarded numerous statuses; she was the Member of the Order of the British Empire, the Kavalerdam for achievements in the field of literature, the head of the British Detective club etc. Her worldwide fame is indicated by the fact that her books have been published in circulation of more than 4 billion copies and have been translated into over 100 languages.
It’s like a life of an ordinary woman, but while she had been knitting, spending the evenings with friends or family, Agatha considered new storyline. So when she sat to write a novel, the plot was ready from the beginning to the end. She had a special notebook, where she recorded the ideas come to her mind, the images of the characters, the newspaper clippings about crimes and notes on poisons.
Worldwide Agatha Christie is associated with such detective as Hercule Poirot. This intelligent Belgian is hero of 88 pieces. Agatha has created couple of characters: intellectual Hercule Poirot and comedic, diligent, but not very smart Captain Hastings.
In her works, Agatha did not stop on one hero. There was also colonel Reis – tall, well-built, tanned agent of British intelligence of spying MI5. He travels over the world in search of international criminals.
Christie also released a collection of 12 short stories, "Parker Pine investigates". It’s not ordinary detective fiction – the plot is not about a crime, but of the history of Pine agency’s clients. Agatha always said that her victim's life is more interesting for her than the murderers’.
Agatha then started new line of creative: she began to write about Tommy and Tuppence Beresford. This young family of amateur-detectives has been firstly met with readers with blackmail (for the sake of money and interest). However, they soon discovered that the private investigation brings more money and pleasure.
…
Another well-known Christy’s hero is Superintendent Battle. He is highly successful Scotland Yard officer, who investigates the special cases involving societies’ secrets.
Among the main characters of Agatha’s novels were an elderly maiden – Miss Jane Marple. This hearty fictional old woman was very similar to own Agatha’s grandmother, as contemporaries said, not only outwardly, but even in mode of thought.
Very remarkable story is associated with the last published book – "Curtain". Christie hesitated to publish it for a long time, as if she felt, it would be her end. In this story Hercule Poirot dies at Styles, solving another murder. The Poirot’s game ended, and Agatha Christie's life came to an end too. The farewell Poirot’s letter to Hastings is like Agatha’s parting with her readers. Agatha Christie said to her friend the next: "I always adored choc-ice. One day a delicious cold dish will be cooked for dear old lady, so she goes on an icy road – and won’t return..." Agatha Christie died on 12 January 1976, a year later the triumph of her latest book.
I want to finish my speech with my personal impressions about so amazingly great woman as Agatha Christie. I can talk for hours about this person, because she manages to captivate my feelings with her writing. It is sincerely pity, that such great woman, that beautify our life, left this world.
