Who Are They?"

 Who are they – people who went down in history ? Are they ordinary or special people?

 I study at school  №629  and can proudly say that some of its school-leavers have contributed to the history of our country.

One of them is Olga Zaitseva  - a famous Russian biathlete .

 He was born  on May, 16, 1978 in an ordinary  in Moscow. Her father was a pilot and her mother worked in the kindergarten.

She followed her elder sisters’ example and went in for skiing in 1991. She began her career   as a biathlete in 1994.

During her first 1999—2000 World Cup season, Zaitseva only appeared in one race, didn't scoring for the overall standings. Starting from the second half 2001—02 season, she became a regular in the Russian World Cup team. The best result is the 4th place in the 2004—05 season and winning the mass start discipline cup of the same season.

Olga has become the World Champion twice. She won eight Championship medals – three gold, two silver and three bronze ones in Austria in 2005 and in South Korea in 2009.

Over the course of her career, Zaitseva has reached twelve personal World Cup wins. In the history of the International Biathlon Union she is ranked  the twelfth for all-time career victories. In addition, she has won twelve relay races and two mixed relay events as part of the Russian World Cup team.

In January 2012, Zaitseva has competed in a total of 208 races at senior level, winning 26 of them.

All the pupils of our school know the name of Alexander Serkov, the Hero of Russia.

He was born on the 26 of September in 1981 in Ryazan. His father and grandfather were military men. He studied at three schools because his parents had frequently to change their places of living because of their job. He loved learning and his teachers predicted him great future.

In 1999,  after graduation  from the school № 629, he entered the Institute of Internal Troops in St. Petersburg. His family approved his decision.

After graduation from the Institute he joined the famous special detachment "Vityaz".

Dmitry was a qualified specialist . He could overcome all hardships and achieve his aims. He always did his best. He was a loyal and reliable friend and a caring son and grandson.

The family was proud of its son and grandson and he always tried to find the time to visit his family.

In 2005 he began to take part in combat missions in North Caucasus .He got his first state award – the Medal of Suvorov for  his courage and bravery.

The last fight of Captain Dmitry Serkov happened on the 2 of August in 2007.  He was deathly wounded in the battle against the leaders of Chechen gangs that had been murdering people in Chechnya and Dagestan.

He was posthumously conferred for courage and heroism displayed during the performance of a soldier's duty in the North Caucasus region in 11 December 2007.

Such people as Olga and Dmitry make us think everything is possible.
