We invite you to visit Urazovo. If someone would like to learn more about a village, it is useful to walk along the streets and look around to see historical places, buildings and monuments. Besides this, you may ask a resident of the village to advise you what places of interest you should see first.

The population of Urazovo is 6900 people. Our village is situated on the left bank of the Oskol river. Sloboda Urazovo was founded by prince M.M. Golitsyn in 1728. In 1839 the first school was established here and in 1900 the first commercial school was opened. In 1962 Urazovo became a part of Valuiky district.

Now it is a modern and nice village. You can see a lot of here: a Palace of Culture, a historical museum, a monument to heroes of the Great Patriotic War, churches. If you are tired, you may have a rest at the beautiful park.

We are proud that the names of famous people are connected with our village. Famous soviet actor Vladimir Basov was born here in1923. Also, the general of the Army, the Hero of the Soviet Union N.F.Vatutin studied at the commercial school in Urazovo.

        The Church of the Beheating of St. John the Baptist was built in 1898 by the Kir’yanovs brothers. During soviet time the church was used as a grain storehouse. Later it was rebuilt and in 2005 Belgorod and Stary Oskol archbishop Ioann consecrated it. Majestic and smart church has become integral part of the village panorama. On the belfry there are three bells of amazing sound. Today their solemn ringing is heard on a distance of many kilometers.

Construction of the Temple in honour of the icon of the Mother of the God “Sign” was built at the Alexander Golitsyn’s expenses, the owner of the land. The foundation stone of the church was consecrated in 1750, and the construction was completed in 1806. The internal view strikes by light, air and strict architectural forms. Visitors admire a majestic iconostasis with silvering and golding.

The Museum of Local Lore was opened in 1988 in honour of the 260 anniversary of Urazovo. It is some of the scientific and educational institutions where we can follow the life of citizens of Urazovo. It’s a place where old, valuable and beautiful things are kept. All visitors admire the collection of original exhibits that reflects the life during WWII.

The residents of Urazovo are proud that the Hero of the Soviet Union I.N.Kozhedub made his first flight on the plane LA-5. In this honour a monument-model of that plane was set near the Eternal Fire.

The Eternal Fire was lighted in memory of the lost and dead during the liberation of Urazovo in WWII. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was built in 1970 by Bavykin E.F. It is in honour of the 40 anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in WWII. 124 soldiers are buried here. Among them is the Hero of the Soviet Union Petrov P.M. More than 1200 surnames are cut on the marble slabs. We are proud of them and will always remember them.

The newly repaired Palace of Culture is perhaps the major attraction and it houses the cinema, a lot of clubs. It is a real centre of the cultural development.

Our two secondary schools, the school of children’s Art, the music school also play an important role in the cultural life of our village. The favourite resting places are stadiums, the park of the culture and rest, the cafes and a lot of side-shows.

        Urazovo with its rural charm is always dear to my heart. I love the greenery of our fields and the quiet current of the narrow river. I like Urazovo not only for its sights. It is the place where I was born, it is the native village of my parents. It’s my little Motherland. Welcome to Urazovo.
