Alexander Graham Bell, American inventor and teacher of the deaf, most famous for his invention of the telephone. Alexander Graham Bell was born on 3 rd March, in Edinburgh in 1847. When he was eleven, Bell invented a machine that could clean wheat. At the age of 13 he graduated from Edinburgh’s Royal High School. At the age of 16 he began to work as a teacher, at the Academy Weston House . His parents had lost two children to tuberculosis, and they insisted that the best way to save their last child was to leave England.

Bell had other inventions as well -- his own home had a precursor to modern day air conditioning.His last patent, at the age of 75, was for the fastest hydrofoil yet invented. Bell devoted science and technology. He also is one of the founders of Science magazine. Bell died on August 2, 1922. On the day of his burial, all telephone service in the US was stopped for one minute in his honor.
