Столица Великобритании всегда притягивает учеников изучающих английский язык. Ученица 4 класса Ксения Соколова никогда не была в Лондоне, но очень мечтает посетить этот город. В своем выступлении Ксения рассказала, почему бы ей хотелось посетить эту столицу и какие достопримечательности ей хотелось бы увидеть.

The topic of my presentation is “London is the city of live history”. I chose this topic because London’s life is very interesting for me and I’m going to connect my future job with the English language.

London is the capital city of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It’s in the south-east of England, on the river Thames.

More than eight million people live in London and millions of tourists visit the city every year. London is bigger than all the other cities in the UK.

The Tower of London is one of the oldest buildings in London. It was started by William the Conqueror in 1078. The Tower was built as a castle and a palace. It’s most famous, as a prison. Now it’s a museum where the Crown Jewels are kept.

Tower Bridge is a bridge over the River Thames. It’s the only Thames bridge which opens and lets ships to go through.

Westminster Abbey is one of the most important religious buildings in the country. It’s a large Gothic church.

Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British monarch.

This is Big Ben. The tower is 96 metres tall. The clock has got 4 faces, so you can see the time from all directions.

Everyone call the clock “Big Ben”. The name refers to the bell inside the clock.

You can hear the bell every hour. The tower is now officially called the Elizabeth Tower, after being renamed in 2012 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
