Solnechnogorsk Moscow Region. Its ecology

My name is Maria and I live in a beautiful town of Solnechnogorsk. I would like to touch upon some ecological problems of our town because environmental protection is one of the main problems of today.

Solnechnogorsk region is considered to be one of the most ecologically clean regions, situated not far from Moscow.

Air pollution in our town is caused by the ever-increasing number of cars that help to cope with the transportation problem. Leningrad highway going through Solnechnogorsk region increases air pollution greatly. About 130000 cars a day go along the highway. The riding round road is being built now. The specialists consider this road to relieve Leningrad highway and decrease influence of exhaust fumes at nature and environment.

One of the most powerful sources of pollution is the dump situated near Hmetyevo. It is used for burial of waste products. The territory of the dump is over 87 hectares. The technological discipline hasn’t been observed for many years.

The pearl of Moscow region is lake Senezh. It looks like a huge mirror, reflecting the life of the town. Looking at the lake one cannot imagine that it is in great danger. The rivers Masiha and Sestra bring polluted water into the lake. Some species of fish are disappearing as well as crayfish, which is the index of clear water.

Pupils of our region try to do everything to protect our native town. But these are only the initial steps to save life on the planet not only for the sake of the present but also for the future generations.
