Washington DC is the capital of the USA. Population of this city is 572 thousand people. It is situated in the east of USA, in the Columbia state.

Education There are a lot of Colleges and Universities. A lot of political, economical, scientific centers are situated there.

There are a lot of nations: 60% of population is Afro-Americans, <20% - white people, the others are Latin-Americans.

History Washington DC was built in 1791. George Washington searched place for the town himself. P. Laftan was the first creator of Washington DC. The Government moved to the new capital in 1800.

11 th September 2001 Washington DC, such as New York, was attacked by terrorists. As a result, one of planes crashed to the West Wing of Pentagon and 800 people died.

In the center of Washington there are the Capitol (1793-1865), the White House (1792-1829), the Moll. They form Federal triangle. The central street is called Pensilvania-avenu.

Streets go rays from the Capitol and they are called as well as states. There are squares where streets cross each other. In squares, there are monuments to heroes of this country: heroes of the War for independence and the citizens’ War. There are more than 300 monuments in the city.
