“ The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” is a story about the investigation of a London lawyer named Gabriel John Utterson who examines strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr Henry Jekyll, and the misanthropic Edward Hyde. The work is commonly associated with the rare mental condition often spuriously called "split personality", wherein within the same person there are two distinct personalities. In this case, the two personalities in Dr Jekyll are apparently good and evil, with completely opposite levels of morality.

Gabriel John Utterson Gabriel John Utterson , a lawyer, Jekyll's friend, is a man with a severe expression that is “never brightened by a smile”. He remarks very shortly and rarely shows his feelings. Utterson follows in his quest to discover the identity of Hyde. “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” Adaptations There are dozens of stage and film adaptations of the novel; over 123 film versions alone, not including stage and radio versions. However, there have been no major adaptations to date that remain faithful to Stevenson's original. Most omit the figure of Utterson , telling the story from Jekyll's and Hyde's viewpoint. Thus eliminating entirely the mystery aspect of the true identity of Hyde, which was the story's twist ending and not the basic premise that it is today. In addition, almost all adaptations introduce a romantic element which does not exist in the original story.

“The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” My Opinion I like this story very much because it shows us the inner conflict of humanity's sense of good and evil. It is a beautiful book, compared to many other fascinating books that I have had the pleasure to read. I really have never experienced such a wonderful and joyful reading. It was a somewhat easy read, yet it was hard in some ways, yet it blew me away. The writer represents that good and evil exist within one person, constantly at war. It’s amazing! To my opinion Stevenson is a master storyteller. I was surprised that the story is actually told mostly from the point of view of one of Jeckyll's friends. Only the end is written from Jeckyll's point of view. But it gives the novel more interesting plot and exciting storyline.

Wuthering Heights “Wuthering Heights” is a novel about the love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff , Catherine Earnshaw and Edgar Linton. The narrative tells the tale of the all-encompassing and passionate, yet thwarted, love between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw , and how this unresolved passion eventually destroys them and many around them.

Wuthering Heights The main characters Heathcliff was found on the streets of Liverpool and was taken to Wuthering Heights by Mr. Earnshaw and reluctantly cared for by the rest of the family. He and Catherine later grow close, and their love becomes the central theme of the first volume; his revenge and its consequences are the main theme of the second volume. Catherine Earnshaw is the main heroine of the novel. She seemingly suffers from a crisis of identity, unable to choose between nature and culture (and, by extension, Heathcliff and Edgar). Her decision to marry Edgar Edgar Linton is Catherine’s husband. Edgar's life and mannerisms are immediately contrasted with those of Heathcliff and Catherine, and indeed the former dislikes him. Yet, owing much to his status, Catherine marries him and not Heathcliff . Linton over Heathcliff has been seen as a surrender to culture, and has implications for all the Characters of Wuthering Heights.

Wuthering Heights The main characters Catherine Linton is the daughter of Edgar Linton and Catherine Earnshaw . and, despite Heathcliff's attempts at exacting revenge on her for the indiscretions of her family, she eventually marries her true love, Hareton Earnshaw , re-establishing long-lost equilibrium in the story. Hareton Earnshaw is the son of Hindley and Frances, he former works to instill a sense of pride in Earnshaw heritage, even though Hareton has no right to the property associated with it. The latter strives to teach him all sorts of vulgarities as a way of avenging himself on Hareton's father, Hindley . In the end he marries Cathy. Linton Heathcliff is the son of Heathcliff and Isabella, he is a very weak child and his character resembles Heathcliff's , though without its only redeeming feature: love. He marries Catherine, but only under the direction of his father, whom he discovers only as he enters his teens. In 1801 Linton dies.

Wuthering Heights My Opinion I like this book very much because the story touched and impressed me. While I was reading, I worried about heroes. It was really curious to read to the end and learn how this story finished. In fact, this novel shows us how people lived in 18-19 centures , it provides a clear example of social contrast between Heathcliff and Edgar Linton. However, the story is about love, I suppose It’s the main idea of “Wuthering Heights” and Emily Brontë brilliantly describes people’s relationships and feelings.
