Annotation
The project “Seven Icons of Ivanovo” by Artyom Tontsev is devoted to different images associated with the town.
A.Tontsev begins the project with a short historical background to make the reader aware how the town appeared on the map of Russia. He follows different periods in town development which are associated with well – known images such as “ The Russian Manchester”, “The Cotton Kingdom”, “The City of Brides”, “The Town – monument”, “The Cradle of the First Soviet“. He gives the vivid explanation of the historic origin of these nicknames.
From the viewpoint of a modern teenager the author sees the town as “The Territory of Culture” and “The Land of Talents”, because he witnesses these changes from year to year.
The information used in the project has been thoroughly studied by the author and is presented in a clear and logical way.
A.Tontsev comes to the conclusion that these nicknames still make Ivanovo distinguished among other Russian towns. New images of a modern town attract more and more tourists and guests and it contributes to its further development and fame.
The project “Seven Icons of Ivanovo” sounds actual in the year of the 140th anniversary of the town. The information is interesting and historically true. The way of presenting is original and innovative.
