History of the polar bear
Before I took part in the Expedition through the Arctic, I had lived by a schedule. In the Arctic you lose sense of time. Having 24 hours of sunlight we could start our hiking at what we thought was 3 PM but it was actually 3 AM.
Our entire being was focused on one thing: survival. That day or night (I can't say for sure) I was on polar bear watch while the others were sleeping. I didn't have to fall asleep so I looked outside for some fresh air and came face to face with a polar bear.
At first I was shocked and couldn`t cry. Then I saw something strange: the bear seemed not to notice me. It looked very tired and hungry therefore. I came back to the tend to take some food and camera. I must admit that it had always been my dream to take pictures of a polar bear. When I came out the bear had already gone a long distance from our tent. It seemed to me that it was looking or something. To my surprise, it wasn`t alone! I saw two little bear cubs following it. It was a she-bear! People had told me that it would be very dangerous to be on polar she-bear watch. But I didn`t want to lose my chance. Never the lees I set of on my watch. On the one hand, I had my rifle with me. On the other hand, she-bears are extremely furious. However, I decided to follow the bears. It was bitterly could and the sea was frozen. So the bear couldn`t catch fish to feed herself and her cubs. Although I had a strong desire to give them some food, I didn`t do it. I considered that would be wrong to interfere. Wild animals should find their food themselves. But the cubs were getting weaker and weaker. When I was going to give them the food, the bears suddenly dashed forward. I ran after them and finally we all got to the open water. The she-bear started fishing and soon caught a big fish. It was unthinkable that she didn`t give the cub a single piece of it. She was eating the fish growling and beating the cub severely. I was furious!
«Isn`t she a mother?» thought I completely puzzled. Then the she-bear lay on her side and the cubs started to suck her milk.
«Or, what a fool was I! She had done everything for their survival she had fed herself in order not to die. What will the cubs do if their mother dies? They will certainly die too? » And so I understood that the nature is very wise.
And now I am telling my friends this story in my school radio program .I strongly wish everybody to love protect Nature.
