P1: Dear guests!
You are in Cossack stanitsa Gostagaevskaya.
It was founded on the 29 of April in 1862. The population is 9.400 people. There are 2 schools: №15 and №31, 2 kindergardens: №30 and №45, the House of Culture, a market, 46 shops, some cafes, a park where there are 2 monuments to inhabitants who died defending our Motherland.
You see them at these photos.
P2: We are proud of our school’s museum of Cossackment. It was awarded with different diplomas for the great work for up-bringing of young generation in the spirit of patriotism and the love to Motherland.
P3: The leader of our school’s museum is Malykhin Victor Ivanovich. He is a great inthusiast. According to his wish, persistence he created this museum.
Pupils, parents, teachers, inhabitants collected the things of cossack’s mode of life.
P4: Have you any questions, dear guests?
Well, I continue our story about the stanitsa. The nature in our stanitsa is wonderful. There is forest and 2 rivers: Gostagayka and Hadzhi-Abramka.
P5: There is Cossack Volnitsa where many horses are. Pupils of 5th and 7th forms (Cossack classes) learn to look after and work horses.
There is a place of the rest “The 3 Hills”. Many people go there to have a rest and breath the fresh air.
I’ll invite you to come to this place in summer.
T: Today we are in the school’s museum and get to know much more about the history of Kuban. We’ve already learned something about clothes and houses and we‘ll look how can we call some parts of Cossack clothes and house…Do you like the museum? What can you see here?
P1: I can see photos of Cossack families, the models of dwellings and costumes.
T: Look at this photo. There is Cossack family in it. Revise the words about appearance and clothes and try to describe the faces of these people.
P2: I like this face. A man has an oval face, moustache, a straight nose and big eyes.
P3: A woman is good-looking. Her hair is black.
T: How can you describe the costume of a Cossack? What new words describing the costume of a Cossack do you know?
P4:Cossacks wear burka, they wear it over cherkeska in cold weather. Burka is made of wool.
T: How can you explain to your British friend the word “cherkeska”? What does it mean?
P5: I think it is an overcoat with pockets for bullets.
T: Now you can see a dwelling of Cossacks. It is a model. What kind of dwelling is it?
P6: It is “khata”
T: What material did Cossacks made their “khatas” of?
P7: They made them of clay and reeds.
T: Was it comfortable?
P8: I think it was not comfortable.
T: Why did Cossacks build such khatas?
P9: Kuban has warm climate. But in winter it is cold sometimes. They need to have stove in the dwelling.
T: Tell if you know the name and surname of your grand-granny and grand-dad. What does it mean?
P10: I know the name of my grand-dad. It was Shevchenko. It means that he sewed good enough.
T: And now let’s listen to the Cossack folk song “Semechki”.

T: I want to tell you about Ivan Philippovich Kossinov. He is a Kuban writer. Kossinov was born in 1867. The village Abadzekskaya near Maikop is his birthplace. He was a doctor and a writer. Young Kossinov was captivated by medicina. At the early age he started writing short stories. He wrote novels. But sometimes he wrote humour stories. His famous book is called “The life weel”. The main characters in his stories are ordinary “stanichniks”.
He wrote about Kuban nature and resorts. He wrote in Russian and Latin. In 1919 he became a Governor of Goryachi Kluch. He died in 1929.
